4.0 out of 5 stars Great monitor for conventional uses

Pros:
- Great price
- Great monitor for conventional uses.
- Solid performer after 8 months of regular usage
- No dead pixel
- Monitor is still brightly lit

Cons:
- Horrible color consistency to the trained eye. If you put a solid yellow color image that's full screen, you'll notice the top of the monitor is a lot...

1.0 out of 5 stars HANNS*G. hI221, October 13, 2009
This review is from: HANNS-G Hi221DPB 22" Widescreen LCD Monitor (Electronics)
I was very happy with the device for about two weeks. Then a few pixels started turning red in the center and lower left hand corner. It never seemed to be the same pixels and usually only 3 out at a time. So I got my warranty card and receipt and called the company and asked them to fix the problem( after looking at the receipt I had actually had the monitor for 16 days). One of those weeks I was out of town. I had probably used the monitor a total of 20-30 hours max. The warranty department rep (who never gave his name) told me that the monitor wasn't covered because there were less than 5 pixels out. I explained to him that it never seemed to be the same pixels and they seemed to be moving or different ones going out within certain location of the frame. He said that this was unusual but that it does happen. I told him that I had bought a new monitor and expected it to perform as a new monitor and wanted it fixed. He stated that if I had just bought the monitor that day, took it home, plugged it in, and it had less than 5 pixels out that they wouldn't fix it. He then read the warranty clause to me. I asked him where that was on my warranty card that came with the monitor. He told me and I looked. It wasn't there. I read the entire warranty card to him and there were no limitations on pixels. He said that it's not something that is told to the client during purchase and you have to call the manufacturer to get the full warranty. I asked the man as a consumer how I am supposed to know that a call has to be made and the full warranty sent to me before I decide to purchase the product. I still had the box as well and I told the man that it didn't state that on the box, or give a number to call to ask for warranty details. He told me that they don't post that information and it's up to the consumer to call for the information. He said the phone number was on the warranty card. So, I said a consumer has to buy the product, get the warranty card after the purchase to get the number, and then ask the company to send them consumer the full warranty so the consumer can know exactly what they are getting as a warranty with the product purchased, and the warranty card doesn't even state that you have to call the company to get the full warranty. I could understand if this monitor was a few months old, but we're literally talking about 16 days and the representative stated that even if it were brand new out of the box, that they still wouldn't fix the problem. I told him I shouldn't have tried to save money and just bought a Dell, He said, and I quote, "that's like comparing a Mercedes to a Ford, you get what you pay for and that includes warranty service." I was flabbergasted when the rep told me this and just laughed at him and told him goodbye.
Hey the monitor is decent and looks ok, but he was right and you get what you pay for including service. I will not buy from this company again, and will only stick with reputable well known merchandisers.

Pros:
- Great price
- Great monitor for conventional uses.
- Solid performer after 8 months of regular usage
- No dead pixel
- Monitor is still brightly lit

Cons:
- Horrible color consistency to the trained eye. If you put a solid yellow color image that's full screen, you'll notice the top of the monitor is a lot darker than the lower part of the monitor - i am assume this is what you would call banding.
- Not a graphic editing monitor, or even close. The color calibration is off. Do not use this even if you're a amateur. Your colors will be really off.
- No height adjustments.

3.0 out of 5 stars Difficulty obtaining native resolution (1680X1050), February 19, 2008
This review is from: HANNS-G Hi221DPB 22" Widescreen LCD Monitor (Electronics)
I just purchased the Hannsg 22" hi221. I am fairly impressed with the monitor. However, i'm frustrated by the fact that even though I'm using XP and have updated my graphics drivers, I still can't get the monitor to display correctly(1680 by 1050). if anyone has any suggestions, I'm more than willing to listen. But otherwise, this seems to be a great monitor

1.0 out of 5 stars Hanns G sells bad equipment and lies about their warranty coverage, January 5, 2010

Had one of these monitors, along with a 28 inch. Cheap...now I know why. Worked fine for 13 months, then both die with
a white screen of death on one, and a band of distortion on another after running for 20 minutes.

What you will find out is the tech nearly always diagnoses LCD failure over the phone, which means your "3 year" warranty
is bupkus.

I tried several times over several days after I caught on. Just about any complaint you have with the picture on this monitor
is diagnosed as an LCD issue, even though many problems can be the result of control board part issues, for example. But
of course, they tell you they know. Want to send it in anyway? What do you want to bet they come up with the same diagnosis
on all warranty repairs after one year, and you will be out your shipping. I bet they don't service a monitor a year after it's a year old.

Find and buy a monitor from a real company. This product is like that old Yugo car...looks great for awhile, but don't count on it for the long haul. It isn't even a one star company. Since spoken to others with same problems.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great Buy!, December 31, 2007

This review is from: HANNS-G Hi221DPB 22" Widescreen LCD Monitor (Electronics)
I just got this for Christmas and Only beef I have with it that it doesn't come with the DVI cable only VGA. This is the only reason I took a star from the review because have to go out and purchase a $50 dollar cable that should be included. Other than that I love it a HUGE upgrade from my former screens 17" and 15" replacement for 17 due to dead pixels. I recieved this in mint condition no dead pixels packaged very very well and recieved 4 days early even though I had to wait till christmas. =P

this thing looks great and performs great. i play full tilt poker and it puts 4 tables on the screen at once and they fit PERFECT!! youtube movies are great. i don't know about the speakers because i have surround sound set up for movies and music. haven't watched a movie yet, but have loaded a few videos and it looks awesome. the quality you get for the price can't be beat.

i run xp pro and did not even need to use a cd or any of the three cables it came with.

Works and looks as good as any 22" widescreen monitor, all at a lower price than most. Ordered, arrived in 4 days, no problems. Would recommend to anybody looking for a 22" widescreen monitor, but doesn't want to spend a fortune.
