I purchased this product shortly after my daughter's ear tube surgery, so I could monitor the tubes at home. I was pleasantly suprised by the high quality of the product. The otoscope is VERY easy to use, and the view is amazingly clear. I would highly recommend this product, and wish I had bought it much earlier when my daughter was suffering from repeat ear infections and chronic ear fluid. I feel that this product is an excellent value, especially for parents who want to monitor their children's ear infections at home.

even the otoscope seems to be small and I questioned if it would be good enough but I'm surpriesed in a good way that the light is so strong, and so on.

This is a great little light to let you see into the ears of your family. I practiced on my husband first (to figure out what the heck I was looking at) then attepted it on my one year old. Works pretty well! Takes some getting used to, but thats mainly b/c I didn't know what I was looking at. But the light is bright and seems to work pretty well.

This little gadget has saved us so much $$$ in office visits! My child frequently gets ear infections, but he also has sensory issues so when he says his ears 'hurt' it might be due to noise, or simply overstimulation. So... I pull out my little otoscope and take a peek!
The hard case is a really nice bonus, and it comes also with a book of photographs so you know when to worry, and when NOT to worry. It is very simple to work, nice bright light, and comfortable in the ear. A great thing for moms to have in their bag of tricks!!

I ordered this after my daughter's recent ear infection, and also so that my husband could check my chronically-poor-draining ears for infection whenever I get earaches this winter.

While I have no medical training, I do have laboratory and science training, and I felt that for such a small device, this otoscope had amazing magnification and quality of image! It's excellent for looking in the nostrils, throat, (bright light), and ears to check for infection, inflammation, fluid buildup, etc., and is perfect if you want to do a quick check before deciding if a trip to the doctor is warranted. (If you see redness or swelling, go in!)

The only caveat is that these things are not sold at the grocery store pharmacy for a reason: they can be dangerous. It is a challenge to learn how to look around the corner of the ear canal to the ear drum without causing discomfort to the subject, AND you could actually poke the eardrum of the person moves suddenly, which could cause damage to the ear drum. The bottom line: be REALLY careful!

Besides the learning curve for using this instrument effectively in the ears, it's really easy to use overall. The cones simply slip on and off, push-button for the amazingly bright LED light, and the image is just amazing. Dr. Mom also sells replacement cones for this otoscope, or you can just sterilize the three that come with it. (One child-size, one average adult, and one large.) The color photographs included on the box showing normal eardrums, infected, swollen, and with a tube were VERY helpful!(Same as the hi-res photos mentioned in the description... you don't have to go online, they are included AND online).

Just be careful, be gentle, and practice inserting just the cone into your own ear (you can feel your own pain) to get a "feel" for it before attempting to look in someone else's ears! Overall, for the affordable price, great quality, and excellent value, I would highly recommend this instrument to any adult who wishes to monitor their family's health more carefully at home.

I bought this for my sister who is a nurse to have around the house to check quickly for ear infections. So far it seems to work just fine. It's worth the money.

This otoscope is amazingly nice for the price. Good quality, good weight, good little instrument.

After trying the safty 1st brand otoscope and not liking it, i was looking for somthing else to try, but I was not willing to spend tons of $$ for somthing that could be just as Ineffective.

I am a mom of twins and one of my sons has microtia and only has one funtioning ear. So between my two children we spent alot of time at the peds monitoring ear fluid, as it is imperitive that we keep on track of his functioning ear.

This product is excellent, lightweight but also durable and easy to use!

I was able to take it out of the package and use it right away!! The light is nice and bright and the infant size cover is a godsend since my son has smaller than normal ear cannal.
