1.0 out of 5 stars Way worse than I expected, April 11, 2011
This review is from: HB 14 Cup Food Processor 450W
This unit looks really nice and I was excited to use it for the first time. I had a previous 14 qt. Hamilton Beach that worked fine for years and did what it was supposed to, but this new "nicer" model has some serious flaws. First the shaft on the chopping blade comes up a little less than 1/2 way up the bowl so that if you actually use the capacity of the container you have to stick your hands into the chopped food to extract the blade as it is completely covered by a couple of inches or more of food. I only chopped two whole onions and I had to stick my hands in the food to get out the blade. The old model had a tall shaft to grab onto. Secondly and more importantly it doesn't seem to move the chopped food aside to let the unchopped food in. I started with two quartered onion the same as always, but this unit made onion paste with several barely touched outer pieces of the onion still spinning around in the mess. Granted it was the harder outer layers of the onion, but my old Hamilton Beach never had a problem dicing them nice and evenly. I am so disappointed as I use a food processor all the time and need a large capacity so my choices are limited.
