First of all I ride a 2012 Road King with stock exhaust and standard tombstone windshield. I mounted the unit on my HJC half-helmet. The speakers fit very high on the ear flap and the adhesive on the velcro lasted thru one attemp to move it. I ended up removing a little bit of the foam in the ear flap and having my wife sew the velcro in the correct location .... approximately. This location also overlapped the zipper on the flap so she could only secure half the velcro. This was not a proble and it may actually add some flexibility to the speakers so there is less pressure on the ears. I had to do some experimenting to find the sweet-spot for the speakers so I could hear them and still be comfortable on my ears.
I will say that this technology is incredible. The unit married up to my Samsung Skyrocket no problem. I could hear the music fine up to about 70 mph, after that it depended a lot on if the wind was at my back and other ambient noise. After 80 mph forget it. What surprised me the most was the phone capability. My wife called me as I was cruising down the freeway at 80mph. I could hear her fine and she said I was crystal clear .... I could barely hear myself talk but she could hear me fine with ver little wind or traffic background noise. She was very impressed.
I purchaded the 100 Plus unit because I did not think I would use the multi-hop features but I wanted the firmware upgradeability. Looking back I probably should have just purchased the HBC200 since the price was not that much more.

I bought the Plus because I wanted to have the flexibility of linking for comms with other riders. The firmware update added the ability to connect four Uclear Plus units. Range is pretty good, as far as I can tell. I haven't had a chance to test bike-to-bike communication, yet.

Music playback via bluetooth is great. Volume control, once you get used to where the buttons are located, is good. Best sound is between 50-60 MPH, and may vary based on your helmet. 70 MPH and the speakers start to get drown out. 80 MPH, it is very hard to hear. A caller said that they could hear me fine, though. So, I suspect the VOX improvements in the firmware update help, and the noise-cancelling in the mic's and earphones are solid.

I'm riding a Harley cruiser with just a windshield, no fairing and full modular helmet, so my ambient noise is going be higher than someone on an Ultra or full-fairing bike.

I use an iPhone and a Mac at home. The firmware update package is for Windows, so you will want to have access to at least a Windows 7 environment. I use a virtual Win7 environment on my Mac, so I was able to run the update. I sent feedback to the support team and they passed my comments to the company. They were very nice about it.

A nice surprise was that pressing the Answer (main) and Down buttons for 2 seconds launches Siri on my phone and I can tell her to call someone. Tested that and it worked great. To answer a call, just say "Hello" or "Pick up" and you are on the call.

Recommendation: Set up your helmet and get your main unit charged up. Then test all the features and get familiar before you get out on the road. Trying to sort out the buttons and what ones to push when would be dangerous while riding.

I bought this at cycle gear. With all the great reviews I thought it might be a good one. WRONG! It doesn't do half the things it claims and then only does them intermittently. Calls to tech support go directly to voice mail and nobody ever calls back. It claims it will play music on your phone. It only does so intermittently, but ironically, it does change the tracks and start and stop the player, but no audio is heard in the speakers. At random times, it will play OK though for a few minutes. Once stopped, it cannot be restarted. I was able to get it to pair with a cheap chinese brand intercom successfully and the intercom feature sort of worked (with a lot of reverb and echos) for a few minutes, then it stopped and reconnecting was impossible. And lastly, it automatically answers the phone without giving me a chance to decide. When I first got it, I first charged and then upgraded the firmware to 2.15. The upgrade software loads a bunch of crap on my computer to do a simple download, but when done, it said everything was successful. In all fairness, I think that the problem is in the firmware, but without any contact with tech support, there is no way for me to verify that. The original version that came with the unit was 2.14 and there is no 2.14 on their website. I don't know if these problems are specific to 2.15 or not. I will be returning it shortly because I don't have time to deal with stuff that clearly wasn't tested before being released to the public.

UPDATE: The Uclear tech support guy did finally call back and said the unit was defective. He also said the firmware version 2.15 was problematic and that the 2.07 would be a better version until a new version can be posted.
