This book covers many interesting and useful topics associated with Hbase. it is definitely worthy reading. However, one unfortunate feature of this author is that he always jumps ahead of himself. For example, he presents API code before explaining API. And the same pattern is observed throughout the book. Actually, API is explained poorly, thats why I would not recommend this book for beginners. Read it when you already understand basics of Hbase.

I work with hbase and cassandra and have always wished to have a cassandra book like this, I.e., a single place for truth.
