The PhysioTrainer by HCI Fitness is an affordable bi-directional upper body ergonometers with heavy construction and a unique design that make it a perfect choice for either a clinic or home setting. The PhysioTrainer is designed to be used to work the arms and upper body on a table top or on the floor as a leg exerciser. The manufacturing process includes a fully welded steel frame, industrial rust-resistant paint and a crack-resistant commercial grade shroud. The PhysioTrainer has a self-powered, easy-to-read display. The display panel has a tilt feature that allows the user to clearly see the readouts whether the unit is being used on a tabletop or on the floor as a leg exerciser. The display shows your current speed (miles per hour or kilometers per hour), distance, calories burned, elapsed time, and scan mode.

I recently had rotator cuff surgery and needed an upper body ergometer for my rehab training at home. I used a Monark 881Rehab Trainer at the PT clinic and loved it, but needed a more affordable one for my home. I went with the PhysioTrainer for a couple of reasons, one was the great price and the other was that it did everything the more expensive units did. Initially I purchased the PhysioTrainer for upper body exercise but now my wife uses it as a leg exerciser while watching TV. It is extremely quiet and it does not interfere with our conversation or the TV. The product arrived via UPS in great shape and well packaged. It was completely assembled except for the monitor. The attachment screws were already in the monitor so there was no chance of losing them in shipment. From start to finish, it took me 10 minutes. In addition, this may be a minor point but one of the best features was the tilting display. It really comes in handy being able to adjust the angle of the monitor for the best viewing position.
Needless to say we were are very happy with this product and have already recommended it to our friends.

The machine arrived in good shape, and the assembly was a little tricky but do-able in less than an hour.
The first problem is that after about half a dozen uses the machine broke. Internally the chain slipped off the internal wheel, or broke in some other
way that renders it unusable.
But even if the machine worked, there is one fundamental problem with it: it is not stable. It simply does not have the weight to keep still while using it. It
will sometimes arch up, and other times move side to side as you row.
Both my wife and I, who have used different exercise machines for many years, found it frustrating and virtually worthless because of the instability.
It seems to work fine if you stand up, hovering over the machine, but if you want to sit down and use it, this is not the machine for you.
I find it telling that the company also offers a table that secures the machine, but it is almost as expensive as the machine itself.
I hope I will be able to get a refund....

Amazon Verified Purchase
Physio trainer arrived in two days but had to be returned because of a faulty monitor. Second physio arrived in another two days and is working well. The challenge is to anchor it on a table top, level and no slipping. This has been addressed with some no-slip pads from Loews. We have other stationary bicycle machines and have removed the foot straps from the physio, which I would recommend if you don't need them.

Functional, sturdy but movable arm exerciser
This machine is heavy enough that it doesn't skitter all over when you use it. It has enough tension to make me work up a sweat using just the arms. Read more
