4.0 out of 5 stars Helpful Resource For Sermon Preparations
In addition to the beautiful lay-out, there are a number of theological issues that are discussed in a separate section at the back of the book, such as 'Messianic Prophecies Fulfilled In The Gospels', 'The Resurrection Appearances of Jesus' etc. Full color maps are included as well. This resource is not skimpish, with elaborate materials.

3.0 out of 5 stars Over my Head
I was impressed with the other reviews of this book and looked forward to having a copy. But I quickly discovered that it was "over my head". I think it would be great for real scholars, but I don't fit into the category.

This review is from: HCSB Harmony of the Gospels (Hardcover)
This book is a great tool for any student of the Bible. It is the Holman Christian Standard Bible translation which is a very good translation--it reads somewhere in between the ESV and NIV; less dynamic than NIV in form, but more accessible than ESV in vocabulary. The layout is easy to understand, placing each comparable section of each Gospel as applicable next to each other. It divides each pericope, or account, into a section and then numbers it and gives it a subtitle. The book begins and ends with articles asking various questions such as "Is Harmonization honest?" and "Where did we get the Gospels from?". It deals with some more critical issues as well. If you are studying the Gospels for any reason: personal study, sermon preparation, trying to understand Christianity, et cetera--this book is for you. We ought to spend more time than we do in the Gospels; we turn too quickly to Romans and Ephesians or Revelation...

This book will reawaken the curiosity in all of us as we seek to glean to the treasures of Jesus, and learn the personalities of the authors.
