5.0 out of 5 stars Gorgeous Glass Amazing Art
Ok, if you bought this video to find out about Chihuly, try another one. This showcases his art in nature. And it is simply amazing. The music isn't the best newage music but it does the trick. And the High Def images of some of the most unusual and amazing pieces of twisted glass are astounding. Everyone I show this to wants to get a copy. We put it on just to have...

3.0 out of 5 stars Subpar Camera Work Really Holds This Back
The Enid A. Haupt Conservatory makes for a great setting in which to exhibit Chihuly's stunning works of art. Unfortunately, the amateurish cinematography prevents this feature from being really special. It is apparent that no high-end trolleys, booms or steady-cams were utilized. Many of the shots look like they were done on foot. The panning and zooming is erratic,...

We put it on just to have some pretty images and nice music. No added features just 60 minutes of continuous looping (1 hour of total video). You do have the option to turn the music off. Also try MUTE or turn down the volume if you don't like the music. Otherwise, it turns your TV into a work of Art. AWESOME.

5.0 out of 5 stars A "Must Have" for any Chihuly Fan, January 8, 2010

This review is from: HD Moods: Chihuly in Nature [Blu-ray] (Blu-ray)
I bought this Blu-ray disc expecting 4 or 5 fairly static scenes of Chihuly glasswork installations.... possibly a bit boring, but at least it was Chihuly. Well what I surprise I was in for. Rather, this is 60 minutes of stunning images and dynamic scenes passing around a multitude of installations, many of which we had never seen before, despite owning all of the DVDs available on Chihuly's work. We were stunned. Image quality is excellent (1080i) and the price is a steal, at around half the going price of the DVDs. Don't expect any commentary or technical detail on the making or installing - get the DVDs for this. Instead this will give you the "nearly there" experience of amazing installations in nature, accompanied by very simple but quite ethereal music. Sit back and enjoy the visual feast.

The panning and zooming is erratic, inconsistent, and sometimes downright herky-jerky. The music is basic atmospheric new age and serves its purpose. Altogether, it's not a bad presentation, but it really doesn't do Chihuly's works justice.

There is no doubt that the art represented here is beautiful. However, this does not excuse the fact that there is not a single word spoken throughout nor are there any captions explaining where these scenes were shot. There are no credits at the end and the disk replays from the begining in a continous loop. Basically what you are buying is more like a store demo disk. What this should be at the very least is a short documentary. The box does not even include a little insert or brochure that may be a assistance. If, as the other reviewer is saying, it was 'like being there" at least I would know where I was.
