4.0 out of 5 stars Hawaii or Not
I have a huge collection of Hawaiian videos, and having recently purchased a Blu-ray machine, I was really looking forward to this disk. Visually it is outstanding. Hawaii, having some of the most beautiful scenery in the world, is an ideal location for HD.

3.0 out of 5 stars could have been much better
The pictures are beautiful and selection of material was great but could have been better by making some changes. Some scenes were too long. I thing some Hawaiian music would have been for fitting to the material. Also it would have been nice to know what I was looking at, either short narration or captions that the person can turn on or off. When someone visits Hawaii...

4.0 out of 5 stars Hawaii or Not, November 1, 2007
This review is from: HD Window: Hawaii [Blu-ray] (Blu-ray)
I have a huge collection of Hawaiian videos, and having recently purchased a Blu-ray machine, I was really looking forward to this disk. Visually it is outstanding. Hawaii, having some of the most beautiful scenery in the world, is an ideal location for HD.

So why didn't I give this disk five stars? Unfortunately, like many mainland productions, this disk does not use Hawaiian music. Instead it uses music that is one notch up from elevator music. As I watch this disk in the future, I'll either only listen to the nature track, or I'll put on the Hawaiian music feed from Dish Network.

Never-the-less, for those who love Hawaii's beauty, or for those who have yet to experience it, I highly recommend this disk, which means I recommend it for everyone.

If you have a nice HD system then this will really show it off. It can be played with music or just the natural sounds, or both.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful!, January 14, 2008

We visited Oahu and Maui back in '94. This is a great reminder of what that wonderful island was like. You can virtually feel the small waves wash over your feet. We frequently runs this blu-ray on our 42" while reading or just talking and relaxing.

Just one slight snag, it's 1080i - not 1080p.

5.0 out of 5 stars Living in Hawaii, this was a nice way to visit beautiful places from the theatre room!, December 11, 2010
This review is from: HD Window: Hawaii [Blu-ray] (Blu-ray)
No question about it, this was a great HD disc. When my player went on the Fritz, and HD DVDs are no longer made, I had to buy the Blu-ray of this disc as even though, as one reviewer put it, it is not authentic Hawaiian music, the scenes are great and calm the mind. I recommend this to anyone who longs to "visit" Hawaii Nei!

Another way to "visit", is to read about my experiences after setting foot on the Big Island of Hawaii!Medicine, Miracles, and Manifestations: A Doctor's Journey Through the Worlds of Divine Intervention, Near-Death Experiences, and Universal Energy

Aloha!

5.0 out of 5 stars More "Lush Landscapes" Than Many Hawaii Videos, March 14, 2010

I bought this video to use as background while I'm reading, studying, or working. The scenery is gorgeous if you enjoy scenes of lush landscapes, and other scenes not normally found on videos of Hawaii. I tried it both with the music and with nature sounds only. I found myself wishing it had bee longer because it had some exceptional scenes in it. It is a little like a moving screensaver, but a very relaxing experience.

5.0 out of 5 stars One of My Favorite DVDs to Play, January 29, 2010
This review is from: HD Window: Hawaii [Blu-ray] (Blu-ray)
Not a big fan of the music that goes along with the movie, but I just mute it and play something that I'd like to accompany the scenery on my stereo. Love reading while this is playing because my ideal vacation is to read on the beach. And sometimes this can be better than the real thing as you don't have to worry about sunscreen, etc... SOMETIMES. Hard to beat the real thing, but when you and your friends don't have a beach house readily available, this is a nice alternative. It always brightens the atmosphere in my apartment, especially during the winter months!!

Beautiful photography and the relaxing sound of waves hitting the shore. The high def is amazing. Put this one on if you've had a stressful day and need to relax. As someone who has been to Hawaii, I would have liked more interior views, waterfalls, etc., but then you wouldn't have that calming rhythm of the waves.

4.0 out of 5 stars Relaxing...but not for everyone, May 8, 2009
This review is from: HD Window: Hawaii [Blu-ray] (Blu-ray)
This isn't a tour guide disc. But I knew that when I purchased it. It seems like, from the comments, that many people did not. Amazon's description is not very helpful; I purchased mine in a store where I could read the back of the case.

It's something that you'd have on in the background while going about your day--or doing yoga or something. :)

The scenery is beautiful, with no annoying captions or narration. The only reason I'm giving it four stars is that I couldn't get mine to work without the music. It claims you can view it with just the natural sounds, but mine will only work with the music.

Hello; This one is slow! But I like it. You will se a video clip during each Jazz song, with lappig water on the beach. You have to relax with a cool drink for about an hour, and you will think you were there.
