It was easy to install, has just the ports I needed that were described in the listing: two full-sized IEEE (6-pin) and one little Fire Wire type thing you find on laptops (4-pin). I plugged my Mini-DV camera in and it worked perfectly! Simple product, simple functionality. No complaints.

In spite of the packaging, the product worked flawlessly. I plugged it into my PC and Windows XP recognized it immediately. I was able to download the images from my camcorder without any problems. I did not use the included Videostudio 8, but used my own Adobe Premier Elements.
However, the packaging was definitely on the low end. The card was not in an ESD bag - it was just in the plastic case. The cable is about 4 ft long and is a cheap clear plastic coated cable without any filters in the cable. The package indicated that it contains a USB 2.0 port, and describes the features of the USB port, but it doesn't contain one. It does contain 3 external 1394 ports and one internal port. It also uses a name-brand Texas Instruments chip (which was recognized by Win XP).
All in all, it was better than I expected for $12 (including shipping) and I definitely recommend it. It arrived 3 days after I ordered it.

I'm not really one to write reviews, but I strongly believe that this product gets one.

I was looking for a firewire card for my new computer that came without one. After looking around the internet for a while trying to get the best deal, I came around this particular one. I really thought it was a scam because the really low price. Nevertheless, I decided, "hey what the heck", and purchased it.

I received the order in the mail literally 3 days later (with standard shipping. Popped the card in my Vista PC, and it worked like magic. I promptly commenced to export video footage unto my new computer for editing, and worked perfectly fine.

For the price, you cannot go wrong. The card comes with a 3 ft. cable, and a Video studio CD (which I will never use). This is a steal for the price.

Very easy to install. Open back of computer, remove metal slot that has area for port but removing the screw and sliding out the metal piece, slide port into the open slot, replace the screw and that's it.

Comes with a driver installation CD-ROM and I think some software (that I'll never use). We have Vista premium and as soon as we plugged our Mini DV - Sharp VL-NZ50 - Digital Viewcam into the dv cable (that was included with the port) our computer instantly recognized the device and installed it correctly. I have been importing hours of old video from the Mini DV to our computer all day. Then we have the video backed up on our external hard drive. So there's no way we are losing hours of our son his birth, baby, and toddler years.

Great purchase and I would think just about anyone could install this port. I watched my husband do it, but I know I could have figured it out if I had to.

A couple of things to mention: When importing video onto the computer, also have your camcorder plugged in to it's ac adapter. The first time I tried to upload the first video, the camera died and I had to start all over. I am also using Windows Movie Maker as my software of choice for importing my media. It's simple and should already be on your computer if you use XP or higher. Then I open up some other software for more technical editing.

I have a Presonus Firebox, and needed a Firewire card for my PC, I purchased the Firewire card for about [...] bucks, I received it about 3 days later. I installed it, turned on my PC, it didn't show any kind of sign that it was installing, but when I checked, it was already installed.
I was amazed! It works Flawlesly. My Presonus Firebox is working excellent, and I'm using Cakewalk Sonar 6.

For the price this cant be beat. I'm pretty much a computer novice but i got it installed in a spare PCI slot and when I turned the computer back on, Windows Vista recognised the driver after a minute or two and I was up and running. I bought this primarily to upload video from my Sony Digital 8 camcorder.

This was the first time that I have ever opened my computer box to install anything. It was very easy and worked immediately upon plugging it in and turning it back on.

This card has a VIA6307 chipset and not TI. If you are doing audio work that needs TI, don't get this one.

I just installed this card in my computer. It seems to work fine. I'm very pleased for the price.

I use XP. XP recognized the card automatically.

Ordered this product F/7-29-11. Amazon told me delivery would be anywhere from 8-4 -thru- 8-9. They 'lied'. It came M/8-1-11.
After reading other reviews, I paid attention to 3... DO NOT install the card's drivers. Plug it in the PCI slot; hook up the 4pin power; boot your computer up. My computer recognized the card immediately. I run Win 7, Home Premium. Works great with PPro CS4. I've captured 3HRS assorted video[DV(720x480); 1080i; HDV(1920x1280); H.264(AVCHD-after converting it to MPEG4), already... and, so far... so good.
