This product does its job, picks up quite a lot of acoustic sound. I bought it for my classical acoustic guitar and tested it with my amp, worked like a charm. If you're on a budget, and are looking for something to get you by meanwhile or just if you don't want to go all out to make your acoustic into an acoustic-electric this is for you. Love it.

A page of suggestions for mounting on various styles of guitar would have been helpful. Otherwise, it is an excellent addition to my guitar accessories, should the need arrises.

This is a typical passive-pickup, with less-than-powerful sensitivity. As the ad says the cord is only 40" long (a little over 3 feet) so you will need a non-typical extension cord (female to male) rather than the typical male-to-male guitar cord. In my opinion that's a bit of a bad design; the plug on this should be female rather than male to accept standard guitar cords. You will also need either a preamp device such as a powered mixer or an amplifier with a passive mike input... or this simply won't work.

The advantage to this of course is that it can quickly be switched from instrument to instrument (for those that actually do that sort of thing). It also allows you to (to an extent) amplify an acoustic guitar-- if you have the right equipment.

It is advertised the clip can be placed on the sound hole or "anywhere on the guitar". It can be placed on the soundhole... but somewhat clumsily. It simply doesn't fit well. It can also be clamped to the head of the guitar and some report getting decent sound by doing so. But there's really not much of anywhere else on the guitar that it will clamp with any pickup efficiency (what else would one clamp it to?).

One must take into consideration the price; this is not a $100 pickup. For the price you might be better off purchasing an adhesive disc mike and placing it directly behind the bridge; the response should be better (depending on the brand). Of course that is a more permanent mount, but some people remove the adhesive and use sticky-putty for adhesion, which allows the disc to be placed and removed regularly.

For the price of this device, or for a child / beginner instrument, if one has other means of active preamp this is a decent enough pickup. It didn't serve my purposes well. I bought it more as a curiosity factor than anything.

I am amazed! This works very well for "turning" my acoustic dulcimer, electric. It will also pick up drumming reverbs through wood. The Djembe over-powers the amp but a board or the desk, does not.

It dies a wonderful job at picking up my guitar without feedback. I like to use it to plug into my computer and record my progress.
