5.0 out of 5 stars If I could give this 5 plus stars I would....do NOT buy the Bracketron, buy this
This is an incredibly stable pad. Awesome in fact. I had tried the Bracketron UFM-100BL Nav-Mat GPS Friction Dash Pad and it slid all over. It endangered not only the unit but me and my passengers. It knonked my wife on the knee pretty hard. You had to constantly be on edge that it would fall off.

3.0 out of 5 stars Good, but TomTom 730 users beware
Pro: stays put... no problems there
Cons: with the out of the box mount that comes with the TT 730, the arm on the mount is not long enough to allow the TT to sit at a viewable angle.

Not really a problem with mount base, rather a problem with compatibility with the TT suction arm. If you have a TT730, then be aware that this unit won't work with the...

This item though is like super-glue. It sticks on EVERY turn and I am using it on the same exact dashboard the Bracketron would slide constantly on. This has not slid once on any turn, sharp U-turns included. I can not get it to budge. As an added bonus it is much smaller than the Bracketron hence easier to transfer between cars or stick in a glove department. It is usually priced higher than the Bracketron but it will be the best extra few dollars you have spent.

This mount is heavy, stable, and does what it's supposed to do. There is a protective paper covering on the bottom which, obviously, must be removed before you can use it. Some Tips.
If you have used Armorall, or something similar, on your dash, You will need to vigerously wipe the area where you intend to place the mount with a damp cloth.
You will have to make sure there is no dust on the dash where this will sit.
I always wipe the bottom of the mount with a damp cloth to remove any dust before using it.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good Solution To Windshield Application, December 5, 2008

This review is from: HDFMB-2: i.Trek V2 Open Front Heavy Duty Friction Mount Base for Garmin, TomTom, Magellan GPS Devices (Electronics)
I got a brand new Tom Tom One and immediately applied the adhesive disk to my windshield. Then as I was reading the instructions (and another review), I found out that California (and Minnesota) have laws against Navigational devices being applied to windshields. That disc was a nightmare to remove with even my sharpest knife! Not to mention using a razor black to scrape the remaining glue off.

The Trek V2 is perfect for most GPS devices, especially Tom Tom One's as the Tom Tom sits lower than most devices. It feels like a heavy beanbag with a rubber bottom that resists movement. It's slightly bulky, but not too intrusive. I just placed the Trek V2 on my dashboard with the Tom Tom and it doesn't move! No sticky waste and I can store it in my glove compartment. I have not seen how it will react to slamming on the brakes at 55 mph and I hope I don't have to! However, it does not move in even the sharpest of turns. Great invention!

5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic GPS mount, February 6, 2009

I kept having problems with my GPS staying stuck to the windshield with shifting humidity... this is definitely the answer. It doesn't look like it'll stay put on the dash, but it's got a non-slip bottom, and it's hefty enough to stay in one place. The GPS stays where it's supposed to, and the mount has never moved unless I was trying to move it. Works absoultely perfectly.

5.0 out of 5 stars Works Great with a TomTom XL One, October 19, 2009
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: HDFMB-2: i.Trek V2 Open Front Heavy Duty Friction Mount Base for Garmin, TomTom, Magellan GPS Devices (Electronics)
Searched and looked at the reviews for a lot of these friction Dash Mounts. Most of the users didn't like the other mounts when using a TomTom. This mount works great!

There is plenty of room to connect the power cord and have it at a good angle you can view. (The cutout, helps with this). I cleaned the dash with the provided wipe and took the paper off the rubber base. (It appears to be a silicone). The thing stays in one place and never moved under hard acceleration or sharp corners. (I didn't try hard breaking as that would have just pushed it toward the windshield.)

Don't hesitate with this one, it works great.

Tips:
- Keeping the Dash dusted will help this item stay put. The tacky silicone grabs dust.
- The silicone is easy to clean with rubbing alcohol.
- The TomTom suction cup initially stayed on a week and then started popping off randomly once a day or so. Cleaning the suction cup and the plastic suction cup mount with the same alcohol and letting them dry a couple minutes solved this issue.

Overall, I'm really please with this device. While a bit more expensive than some, it was worth it.

After reviewing several reviews for the different kinds of GPS dash mounts, I opted for the HDFMB-2. WHAT A MOUNT. I have a Magellan Maestro 3250 and this mount dosen't know it's attached. I have driven and used this mount in a Jeep Liberty, Dodge van, Mitsubishi Galant and a C280 Mercedes Benz. This mount made the GPS move to each vehicle a breeze and the mount stayed right where I put it and it looks great. It was easy to hide with no tall tail signs of a GPS ownership. If you are considering a dash mount you cannot go wrong with this dash mount. I would buy this again. Fast shipping, I ordered this from Semsons thru Amazon on a thursday and received it the following tuesday. Go Amazon

4.0 out of 5 stars Great item! Nice looking, secure and does the job., June 27, 2009

This review is from: HDFMB-2: i.Trek V2 Open Front Heavy Duty Friction Mount Base for Garmin, TomTom, Magellan GPS Devices (Electronics)
Just a few quick words to consider for the GPS user:

I had purchased another popular friction mount with my first GPS unit. Mounting on the windshield invites thievery! After about 10 months, the grommets on the other holder holding the weights broke, and the mount became an annoying beanbag.

This unit has the weights in a nice compact package that do not look like they will lose their shape or break. The unit is nice looking, and small!

It is probably only a 1/3 larger than the width of a 4.3 inch unit. This means you do not have a cumbersome unit on your dash.

Underneath, there is sticky plastic that should hold the unit in place. I have had occasion where I have disturbed the unit when making sudden stops or aggressive turns, but typically it is extremely stable.

For the price, I think this is the ideal friction mount and so far I am very pleased.

Weighty and stable, this base is compact and non-slip. I'm using this base for a Magellan Maestro 4700 and highly recommend it.

Not really a problem with mount base, rather a problem with compatibility with the TT suction arm. If you have a TT730, then be aware that this unit won't work with the standard suction arm that comes with the TT.

5.0 out of 5 stars Small but, it sticks like glue, September 18, 2009

This review is from: HDFMB-2: i.Trek V2 Open Front Heavy Duty Friction Mount Base for Garmin, TomTom, Magellan GPS Devices (Electronics)
This is a little mighty mite! I couldn't get this mount to move/slide at all and I tried. It just stays in place. When you are finished with your driving, it comes right up with no effort at all to take out or hide out of sight (don't want to temp a thief by leaving in plain site). I have seen others that are very close to the same product but, they are usally big and bulky, not this one. Just make sure you clean your dash where you plan to put mount and BAM!! it sticks!! thanks for a nice product that works and the price is also a plus. If you are looking for a mount, get this one. I have the Megallen 4700 and my dash is flat (Saturn Vue)
