Dubroom Review,

Yes I, this is great music! The Scientist is one of the wildest original DUB MASTERS, and here he defends his title as "Heavyweight Dub Champion". You'll play this album again and again, and every time you'll hear something new. Whether you're looking for a chill out experience, or for some heavy bass music to dance to, you'll love it. All ten tracks are layed down by the legendary Roots Radics. In the time this album was first released, they were the studio band for Channel One Studios and dancehall was known as Rub A Dub. Channel One was for Rub A Dub what Studio One was for ska and early roots reggae. You can also hear the voice of Barrington Levy, beautifully mixed in reverb, delay and feedback. In fact, most tracks are the dubs for his album "Robin Hood". And the voice is definitely not the only thing that mixed out. There is not a moment in the tracks, that you don't hear excessive mixing going on. I think this is one of the strongest point from the Scientist, he is really using his devices to the max. I'll spare you the technical details, but I can imagine a smoking mixing table, after Scientist touched it with his hands. This album is absolutely one of the reasons why many people find, that the best DUB was created in the 1980's. And surely, when you compare this album with the works of many of today's Dub Mixers, you wonder why, with the technical possibilities of today, there isn't much more heavyweight Dub around.

One of the best of the series done at King Tubby's,

This review is from: HEAVYWEIGHT DUB CHAMPION (Audio CD)
This CD features alternating tracks done by the disciples of King Tubby's (Scientist & Prince Jammy)and includes dub versions of famous songs by Horace Andy among others. Atmospheric & full of great dub, this CD is one of the best of the series of albums done by Scientist at King Tubby's studio. If you liked Scientist Wins the World Cup or Scientist Rids the World of the Evil Curse of the Vampires, you'll love this one!

There can be no disputing that scientist is the greatest musician ever (well, except for afroman.) None. This album reaffirms that. When Scientist wailes on the sitar, or sings "B1tch, I'm gonna kill you" you must be caught up in his masterful flow. I truly regret that this was the last scientist album, since he got 25 years in prison for rape. But luckily, he's produced 6 top notch albums for us to savor for the rest of our lizives.

Why fah the stupid be so very very stupid? This Scientist subject to slander? Such craziness -a Heavy Weight Dub Champ taken to demonic depths by a handkercheif covered pistol shot character assassination- can only bring about Michael Tyson comparisons. An' he don't ever forever never say "Bits," because (again like Iron Mike) he just can't harm the beautiful ladies -rather, he steals them from out they boyfriends' arms an' make lubs wit dub and most probably a big p p.So I say Bum Bayehe wit Rope an' Dope |
