I bought this little primer book because I am writing a novel about my great-great grandfather, a deputy marshal of the Indian Territory, who is reported to have worked with Heck Thomas on several arrests. I found the book a charming little family memoir by Heck Thomas's daughter. It has a few photos that are interesting. The book is limited in scope because her father died when she was eleven. The stories of Heck's famous arrests are from her personal knowledge of the event as told in the family by Heck and augmented by some research. It allows the readers to know this famous lawman in a more personal way, his habits, his weaknesses, his pride in duty etc. I would recommend it for anyone who wants to know more about Heck Thomas, the man.
