Hella excellence as always!
I have been using Hella H4 lamps in my American cars since the late 80s because of the superior beam pattern. It is difficult to compare these lights to sealed beam units because these are in a different class. You get more light on the road, with less blinding of oncoming traffic. It's a win-win situation for everyone. This is why the rest of the world mandates...

not an easy install
Although I ordered the items to be shipped together, one lamp arrived in 5 days and the other took another 7 days after that. The install was not easy, since I had to grind off some tabs on the back of the lamp to make it fit my Mercedes, and even then it was not a tight fit. Nighttime visibility was improved with these lamps, but not dramatically. The main advantage...

Although I ordered the items to be shipped together, one lamp arrived in 5 days and the other took another 7 days after that. The install was not easy, since I had to grind off some tabs on the back of the lamp to make it fit my Mercedes, and even then it was not a tight fit. Nighttime visibility was improved with these lamps, but not dramatically. The main advantage will be not having to replace the entire lamp when the bulb burns out.

I have been using Hella H4 lamps in my American cars since the late 80s because of the superior beam pattern. It is difficult to compare these lights to sealed beam units because these are in a different class. You get more light on the road, with less blinding of oncoming traffic. It's a win-win situation for everyone. This is why the rest of the world mandates these, the US is the only country that requires sub-standard lighting. My safety is more important to me than that.
