How Does S-Logic Work?

The outer ear, or pinnea, allows us to perceive distance and direction when we hear sounds in the real world. As sounds come into the ear, they bounce off the folds and peaks of our outer ear creating cues that help our brains figure out where the sound came from and how far away it is. Ultrasone headphones with patented S-Logic are the first headphones to utilize your entire ear, including the pinnea, in the listening experience. Through the use of decentralized driver positioning, S-Logic headphones aim the sound at the pinnea instead of directly down the ear canal. The sound does not go directly down you ear canal as with conventional headphones, but instead filters off the outer ear as you listen. By doing this, your perception of distance, depth and instrument placement are greatly enhanced. You can hear the mix exactly as the engineer heard it in the studio. Your ears are very sensitive, so you should take extra care of them especially when listening to headphones. An added benefit of S-Logic technology is an up to 40% (3-4dB) drop in SPL (sound pressure levels) for the same perceived volume. This means the Ultrasones put less pressure on your eardrum than any other headphones. Because of this, the risk of hearing damaged is greatly reduced and you can listen for longer without fatigue.

ULE technology was systematically developed by Ultrasone for users who spend many hours in the headphones. All headphone drivers produce low-frequency magnetic fields. The soundstage on these are great, as that is what they are intended to specialize in. I'm somewhat disappointed by the build quality for a nice pair of headphones though. The comfort is average or less, when compared to the Denon D5000 or even the AKG 702. And the stereo plug feels cheap, and looks like it goes to a 5 dollar pair of phones. But like I have already said, the soundstage is great, and that's why one would get these headphones. Overall frequency reproduction seems overall fine, and maybe just enough color to make it more fun. I would recommend these to people whom want a little impact with their music, or want to watch movies or play games with them as well. I would not recommend these to people whom need to be in a quiet environment, as the music leaks more than any other headphone I have listened to. This is due to the open back design, which allows the greater head and soundstaging. In terms of aesthetics, these headphones are almost cool. What holds them back from being aesthetically cool? The huge logo on the sides, besides that fact that huge logos are lame on high end products, the logo is also lame and plasticy looking. So basically the good color pallet is ruined by a large grey logo. These might be good for a first time high quality headphone, but one can find better deals from other companies. But if soundstage is important, than these phones might be a winner.

Great sound in almost all musical genre. Comfort enough for me. Not very expensive with this quality. So overall this is a very good headphone.

Great sound. At first, thought that the bass was too emphasized but realized these were flat/neutral -- just too many years of using ear buds that don't let you hear the music the way it was intended.
