These drives are impressive performers. The price is worth it outside the enterprise arena if you are a media hoarder like me that wanted to build a fast home theater PC that maximized storage in a small case without too much additional noise or heat. I have four of these in a RAID 5 array and with an Adaptec 6805 RAID card I get read speeds of around 400 Mb/s and write speeds around 150 - not too shabby! My Samsung 840 SSD gets read speeds of 450, which is not a ton more! Initializing the array (24 terabytes of drive space with 18 free after parity data is written) took a little over 1 day, and that wasn't even the "fast init" option - I was able to use the array during the whole process. Even in a locked media cabinet sitting on top of a large power amplifier with all drives spinning, the case internals don't get above 35°C. To be clear, you can definitely hear the drives under heavy load, but the sound is much less than comparable 7200 RPM drives I have owned and the quality of the sound is not irritating like some.

All drives arrived in good condition, were packaged well, and posted healthy SMART status. If you have the money and need a 6 TB drive, take a good look at these.

Bought two of these drives due to superior space and quietness. Was dismayed to find the center hole on the top of the drive is missing. This makes the drive incompatible with the drive sled in a Mac Pro 5,1. I'm still considering ways to modify the sled to use these drives without ruining them to make these drives work. Look elsewhere if you do not want to do surgery on your Mac Pro.
