How can one book do justice to the HGTV decorating shows? It can't, but I feel that this book does a pretty amazing job of covering all the bases. I like the variety of rooms which seem to be newly created for this book. Either that or I have forgotten if I've seen them on my favorite HGTV shows. I really appreciated the how-to-do-it projects which give me more information than a lot of the HGTV shows actually show or more information than I can scribble down while I watch the shows. This book will keep me busy for a long time as there is a lot to look at (gorgeous photos), a lot of explanations of how to plan a room decorating project, and many how-to projects for every room in the house.

This book shows rooms and ideas that are stylish, realistic, and helpful all at the same time. I'll be using this book as a room makeovers guide for years. Our first project inspired by the book is a kitchen facelift. After seeing a stunning kitchen redo in this book, I finally convinced my husband that we can paint our kitchen cabinets. Great book. Thank you.

My only complaint about the book is that I wanted a book like this one or two years ago. What took HGTV so long to get this book out? I like the room makeovers. The book includes advice on how to redo a room and not just the information about a particular makeover. So the decorating information goes beyond the rooms that are pictured. That is a plus. I like the how-to projects also.

It's about time that HGTV came out with a decorating book. Things go by so fast on TV. I get ideas but not enough of the details. This book is perfect because it spells out details, it explains decorating, and it even has projects with instructions. I also was pleased to see that not all the rooms were those I recognized from TV shows. There are what I think are mostly new rooms in here instead of "reruns" from TV. My only complaint is that I want even more. This is a great book. Now that I got mine, I'm reordering more as holiday gifts for my friends who also are into HGTV.

This book has great pix, a lot of decorating advice, and even do-it-yourself decorating projects. I got the book first for all the before and after photos or room makeovers. They're great. What I didn't expect was all the equally great decorating advice and tips plus the projects. Great book. I spend most evenings with HGTV and I'm really glad to have this book. There is so much in it that I know I'll use it over and over again.

This book is absolutely great and very complete. I'm so glad HGTV finally got around to doing a decorating book like this. In my house, HGTV is on most every evening. I don't think these are all rooms from HGTV shows because I didn't recognize them. It seems to be all new photos of the befores and afters supplemented with a wealth of information on what was done and how you can do it yourself. This is a great reference book and an amazing value. Thank you, HGTV.

I watch a lot of HGTV, DIY and TLC channels and am hooked on the decorating shows.

I liked this book because it DID give practical info and many of the projects were not budget-busters. I mean the kitchens didn't look like they were using a $75K budget like on Designer's Challenge. Most of the projects seemed more in line of something a DIY could tackle, i.e. painting cabinets, sewing window coverings, wallpapering, etc.

Various decorating styles were covered in this book and I got lots of ideas from it. Most of the included projects did not seem difficult. I would recommend this book to anyone who is looking for ideas to update their home without spending LOTS of money.

i love watching hgtv and do so almost every day. this book has great ideas and you can do most of the stuff by yourself. there are several projects that i plan to have my husband make for storage. they even let you deside your own style which is great because i love the way just little changes can make your whole room better. one of the better books to decorate with.

I enjoy some HGTV shows but unfortunately this book seemed like it was released just to to capitalize on the room makeover bandwagon and not to help the reader. Too bad there was nothing new, practical or original in it.
If you are looking for ideas to fix up your home, with useful information, buy another book instead .

Decorating that is affordable (not cheap) and realistic. Good ideas, suggestions and projects for all rooms.
