5.0 out of 5 stars a great souffle dish at a great price
I wanted to make souffle but I didn't want to spend $40 for a dish. This dish is perfect--it's every bit as good as the expense dishes (I see no difference) but it was very inexpensive. It makes a great dish for dips and can be microwaved. I would buy this again!

1.0 out of 5 stars Do not buy this item!
I ordered this because the price was right, but I was a little concerned about buying cookware made in China.
The packaging was so flimsy that the first one arrived with a large chip. I requested a replacement.
The replacement arrived in worse shape than the first one; in multiple fragments.
I requested a replacement, but Amazon refused, offering a...

I considered a less expensive version but got this dish. I wanted real French cookware and was somewhat disappointed to find this is French cookware made in China but as the old saying goes "Souffle has no geographic memory." It cooks well. It is well-made with almost no flaws in glazing. It cleans easily. I got the matching small ramekins. They too are good, and Chinese. They stand up to a blowtorch (creme brulee) and what more can you ask?

5.0 out of 5 stars Worth It, Right Out Of The Box, April 28, 2010

This is NOT Corningware. This is a good, sturdy, beautifully glazed piece of porcelain. It's so nice, I can't believe it was so cheap. The mold is flawless, the glaze is bright white -- at the right thickness, with no crazing -- and the bottom is rough porcelain so it doesn't slide. And it's stamped on the bottom in blue: perfect.

I haven't used it yet, but I can already tell -- this ROCKS. Highly recommended.

This souffle dish is not just for souffles---I used it to make the traditional Italian sweet bread, panettone, this Christmas. After making the bread dough in my bread machine, I then followed the recipe directions and let the dough "fall" into the souffle dish and rest before baking. The loaf rose beautifully, and I had a wonderful panettone in the traditional shape. My family and friends were impressed!

I requested a replacement, but Amazon refused, offering a refund instead, while suggesting that I purchase the identical item from a third-party vendor on their site. I wonder what their replacement policy would be?
Looks like I will not be enjoying a souffle any time soon.
