I bought 2 of these gadgets as I make pocket pies for my farmer's market. The very first time I used them they broke! I used a homemade pie dough and they snapped by the hinges. I figured it would be more expensive to ship them back then just throw them away. One positive is that the teeth do seal the pies together terrific. I was so disappointed... They are made with a pretty cheap plastic. Wish I could find something that is sturdier. Beware...

I ordered one of these and it broke within a week. I have ordered three more and one arrived broken. I contacted Fat Cupid through email on 1-1-11. Neither Fat Cupid or Amazon has responded to me to correct the problem

Cuts the circle perfectly but must fold dough by hand over filling and then crimp. If folding the press itself, the dough tears along the fold from stretching.

I've used this to make chicken empanada for my son's lunch several times. The size is perfect for individual lunch or dinner portions. It's easy to use and seals the dough with no problem. It has cut my preparation time shorter.

This press works well for making various pocket pastries, and for seven-inch ones this is the only one of its size I can find.

Yes, the hinges are fragile. Our first one broke when it fell of the shelf and landed on its hinges. We will try to take better care of this one, but I wish they would redesign it.

While I have no doubt that this would be a great, time-saving and convenient product, I never even got to use it one time because, when it arrived and I took it out of the shipping box, I could hear small pieces rattling around inside its own packaging and I KNEW that the hinges were broken off before I even took it out.

It was easy to return (postage paid) and to receive a refund, but I am actually considering trying it one more time. Here's the thing, I don't believe it was damaged in shipping. It may have been broken before it even left the merchant because it was packaged inside a thin box that it fit in very tight and snug, with no foam or bubble protection. The Amazon shipping container was securely packed with bubble insulation.

I really want this item and can't find another 7 inch (or larger) press like it anywhere. I just don't know how gracious they would be if I returned the same item more than once... fool me once, shame on them, fool me twice, shame on me!

The hinges on this press are so flimsy that they would break even with very light use. Mine arrived broken already, even thought the package was not damaged. I don't know what they were thinking when they designed this product. If it were dropped, the hinges would break. Don't even bother ordering this thing. Amazon should not sell this class of rubbish.

I really love this empanada press, save me a lot of time and easy to use.

For those disappointed with their previous empanada press purchase, there is an alternative. Tupperware makes a similar product. I just bought them but haven't had a chance to use them yet. It is available through amazon.com. Remember that Tupperware warranties all their products for a lifetime. And any problems I've ever had with Tupperware, they have always replaced the product without hesitation. :-) P.S. No, I do not sell Tupperware.
