The good: Near perfect weight. Handle is easy to grip, even for large hands. Does exactly what it is supposed to do at an excellent price. I have pounded many dozens of chicken breasts and steaks with this. Very comfortable and effective.
The bad: The weight has two parts, an inner weight surrounded by the outer stainless steel casing. The two do not come apart. When washed upright, then turned over to dry, rusty water drips from the seam between the weight and casing. Obviously, the inner weight is not stainless steel. And also obviously, meat juice can enter this space. Because of this I wash it in the dishwasher then boil it to be sure it is thoroughly clean.
Notes: I have used this pounder for about six months. I would buy it again and recommend it. However, I would also strongly recommend the wash and boil routine after every use to be sure it is clean and sanitized.

Seriously though, maximum bang for the buck when pounding out chicken breasts, veal or venison for schnitzel, or just round steak for rouladen. Easy to keep clean, and store. After reviewing all that were available, this seems to be the best buy. WARNING; be aware of where your other hand and fingers are when using.

We have used this pounder. It's really heavy but it works well. We have also used it to smooth crumb crusts and it does a good job. I beat a couple of pork chops with it and they were quite tender. It does what it's supposed to do. Thanks.

My Mom gave me one of these "Italian kitchen essentials" 35 years ago, and now I had to find one for my daughter without spending an arm and a leg. After much research I decided to purchase this one and upon arrival I was truly amazed to see how well made it is. The weight is just right to pound cutlets without tiring your wrist, it's made of stainless steel, smooth and bright. As with all stainless steel items, be sure to clean it immediately after use and do not allow it to sit in water to avoid dark stains. Be sure to clean it under running water using anti-bacterial soap, especially after using it on chicken. I am sure it will be in my daughter's kitchen long after I am gone.

This does exactly what you want it to...pounds stuff flat. I use it for chicken cutlets and for crushing peppercorns. I have not had a rusting problem per other raters....I just make sure to put it stem side down in my drying rack after I have washed it. Problem solved.

I don't pount meat often but this made short work of some pork a few weeks back. Works great and since it's nearly one solid piece it's easy to clean. Heavy as heck.

Makes meats tender and easy to chew. Helps to make beautiful dishes by making meat flatter for roll up meat recipes. Great for crushing cookies for crumb crust. Excellent to hold your pastry sheet in place. Don't know how I ever cooked without it.
