HIC Blue Willow 16-Ounce Teapot with Infuser

This tea pot looks great in the picture but when you get it it looks NOTHING like the picture. The painting of the blue willow on the tea pot is horrible and so dark you barely make out what its suppose to be. The picture of the teapot is very misleading to what you will get ! DON"T PURCHASE!!

The pot makes just two cups which just right for me and matches my favorite blue willow cup. Only design problem is that there is no tab to keep the lid from falling off when pouring, Must remember to hold the lid with the other hand while pouring. Handle stays cool even with the hottest water,

I am satisfied enough. The tealeaf infuser was broken, but since I can still use the teapot, I did not return it. The price was cheap enough that I will accept it the way it is.

A nice teapot in a blue willow design. The included infuser works nicely and I can get about four cups out of it. I like this and use it everyday.

The teapot is very delicate, although the painting job is not very perfect, but it looks good for everyday use. The infuser is too small for the teapot (as it is in almost every teapot I have seen), it does not go deep enough so you need to fill the teapot with water higher then I would prefer in order for tea leaves to unfold properly. So, I got my Finum infuser and this one almost reaches the bottom of the pot, so the perfect 2/3 of the water would give enough room for the leaves to unfold. Combined with the thin delicate walls of the teapot, it makes for perfect tea. But it looks quite ugly with the finum infuser. I remove the infuser right before serving tea, which would be very hard if I used the original infuser. Unfortunately, the cover of the pot does not have any rim on the bottom of it, and it is noticeably smaller then the space for it, and it broke. Sigh. I am giving the teapot four stars, because, despite all of its flaws, it does make really nice tea, and this is all that matters.

The drawing on this teapot has a kind of bleed over effect with thick lines that makes the details indistinguishable. I have the teacups with this pattern as well and the lines are much thinner allowing you to see the detail.

The infuser has very large holes that allow some finer leaves through. The lid I expect to break any day since I keep forgetting to hold it in place. The handle though is sturdy and allows easy handling even when the pot is full.

Overall it is passable but not great.

This is the second teapot that has arrived with the infuser broken! It is extremely disappointing! I would think that the company would reevaluate their packing.

Good teapot, but the problem is, if you want to make some teas with very small components, such as the chai, the holes on the bottom of the strainer are a bit too big, so that was my main problem with it. Otherwise, the pot is beautiful, and the design is quite nice. Maybe it would be best suited for bagged tea or tea with only leaves and no small components.

First, I LOVE Blue Willow china--in this case with Churchill as the maker.

Second, I bought mine from one of Amazon's marketplace sellers. One sure thing about both Amazon and its sellers: If you have a problem, both will take care of it at once! I speak from experience as both a buyer and seller.

Third, what's not to enjoy? It's a beautiful teapot!

Yesterday I took out my Blue Willow teapot to enjoy a nice black tea while I finished a book! Normally, I use my Brown Betty teapot, but decided to splurge with the Blue Willow. For the first time in a long time, I sat down for an hour to read. The connection should be obvious: I was reading "Pearl in China," narrated by Pearl's childhood friend whose name was Willow. Pearl is Pearl Buck, the American writer who grew up in China.

There's a traditional story that is painted onto the teapot. The following is taken from the product page at Amazon:

"The Blue Willow design depicts the charming and legendary old Chinese Blue Willow Story. The story is about an angry father pursuing his eloping daughter. At the end, the father finds the maiden and her lover on a bridge, and before his eyes, they transform into love birds and fly away together. The lovebirds can be seen on all Blue Willow designs."

I love teapots of all kinds. This one I purchased for my mother. She said it is beautiful. This teapot in particular is used for her morning tea. Weather permitting she enjoys in on her veranda.
