5.0 out of 5 stars HIM - Video Collection:1997-2003
(...) My dvd sounded EXCELLENT. As a matter of fact, of all the dvd's I have, the HIM Video Collection is the one with the BEST sound quality I even ever heard. Enough said. So I will go to amazon.com and leave a positive 5 star review so people know that the audio is excellent. Not even the Evanescence dvd I just bought "Anywhere but home" sounds as great as the HIM dvd...

2.0 out of 5 stars POOR AUDIO
I bought the DVD the day it came out and thought that the sound and video quality were pretty poor. I put the disc into my computer and discovered that the sound is in MONO. That's right, single channel audio. It sounds atrocious. I e-mailed Jimmy Franks Recording Company about it and they aknowledged the bad sound and video. They said that the source files from BMG...

Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: HIM - Video Collection:1997-2003 (DVD)
(...) My dvd sounded EXCELLENT. As a matter of fact, of all the dvd's I have, the HIM Video Collection is the one with the BEST sound quality I even ever heard. Enough said. So I will go to amazon.com and leave a positive 5 star review so people know that the audio is excellent. Not even the Evanescence dvd I just bought "Anywhere but home" sounds as great as the HIM dvd.

As for the videos, I'm happy I won't have to look at them in the internet anymore. I can watch it on tv. I just wish it had ALSN in it I love that video.

The Making of's are freaking super hilarious I have seen them before in the internet, but nothing is better then watching them in the comfort of your home, in a big screen and high volume All I have to say is that I laughed my butt off all threw the night. Bam has got to me the funniest guy in the world. There were even scenes added that i had not seen on the internet before

The interrogation was AWESOME. Ville was talking and everything and I felt like a 10 year old schoolgirl gushing over him. It looks like it took place when they were making the Solitary Man video. Anyway, great dvd, I am happy and ect.

There is an egg in the DVD

Go to Interrogation, after Bam finishes speaking, Jimmy Pop appears again for the 2nd time. Right when Jimmy is saying "We both blown pagan bikes squads" click "enter" on your remote control. Right then and there it will take you to the egg. I will describe the scene. First thing you see is Ville laughing his butt off. The scene takes place in Bam's house, there in that skateboard rail thing in his room, Jimmy Pop is wearing Spongebob Squarepants underwear, and he is trying to skateboard 'Bam style'. So Jimmy is in his underwear, Ville is laughing because Jimmy is trying to skatboard and he just falls on his butt Then the camera goes to Ville's face and Ville makes a comment about the Spongebob Squarepants, and the scene goes to Bam and Jimmy trying to skateboard together. Looks very gay but funny. Of course, Bam and Jimmy fall on their butts, and Ville is sitting down laughing hard. Ville's hair is tied back, he's wearing a green scarf. Jenn is there, and the whole Viva La Bam bunch.

The only complaint I have is that the words in the menu bar are really small. I had to get my reading glasses to read the menu. I remember someone saying that In amazon.com but I thought they were kidding. Not kidding. The letters are really small.

But other then that, excellent dvd. Really happy with it.

5.0 out of 5 stars HIM - The Video Collection: 1997-2003, December 11, 2004
This review is from: HIM - Video Collection:1997-2003 (DVD)
ATTENTION ALL HIM FANS: THIS IS NOT A BOOTLEG, THIS IS WHAT YOU'RE LOOKING FOR!

This DVD is excellent, it contains all of HIM's music videos throughout the first 6 years of their career. If you're like me and wanna see HIM videos and live in the U.S., then you're gonna need this, because you certainly won't see HIM on MTV. It contains the videos for: "Buried Alive By Love", "The Funeral Of Hearts", "The Sacrament", "Pretending", "In Joy And Sorrow", "Heartache Every Moment", "Right Here In My Arms", "Join Me In Death", "Gone With The Sin", "Poison Girl", "Wicked Game" and "When Love And Death Embrace". All of the videos are filled with great images and are excellent, they fit right with the music. Some fans complained that the sound quality on this DVD is bad, but I've already played it on 3 different TVs and it always sounds fine to me. Just to clarify for some of you, this IS in fact an official release from HIM. The back of the DVD contains both the Universal Records logo (the band's U.S. label) and the FBI Anti-Piracy logo.
Also featured on this DVD, are 2 "behind the scenes" segements...one for "Buried Alive By Love" and the other for "The Sacrament". Both segments are very interesting and very funny, as we get to see the band goof around with director (and ultimate HIM fan) Bam Margera. If you own the CKY videos or any other Bam Margera videos, you'll enjoy these segments. There is yet another feature on here: some "interrogation footage" of Ville Valo, Bam Margera and Jimmy Pop. We get to learn what influenced the band, what inspires their songs, how Bam discovered the group and brought them to the U.S., and why Jimmy Pop signed them. For what it is, I am 100% satisfied with this DVD, I recommend it for all HIM fans!

4.0 out of 5 stars This is only to clarify what others have yet to...., October 12, 2005
This review is from: HIM - Video Collection:1997-2003 (DVD)
Ok, first things first. This dvd is the only authorised dvd in the USA of HIM, not counting the recent Wings of a butterfly dvd-single. I purchased this dvd when it was first released and the reason it does not contain the "And Love Said No" & "Solitary Man" videos is because those tracks were released until shortly after this dvd was released. I have quite a number of official & un-official HIM dvd releases from all over the world and this is the only release that contains the Long version of "When Love & Death Embrace". The Quality is that of VHS videos, so no one was lying about that. The Audio is a bit muffled but it is still decent for a 2-channel music dvd release. Also to note, This dvd is the only release with the uncensored HIM/BAM segments. On the UK releases the segments are butchered and bleeped out and the whole hotel porno movie scene is covered up. So, even though this dvd is by no means perfect is does contain material not available anywhere else. So take it for what it is, if you are a worldwide HIM collector of any kind, it is definitely worth the money. Also, look around on the web for the Uncensored Wicked Game video. That's about it. Thanks for hearing me out.

Steven Moore (The City Of Rock'n Roll) - See all my reviews
This review is from: HIM - Video Collection:1997-2003 (DVD)
This DVD contains most of HIM's videos from their album Greatest Love Songs Vol. 666, to Love Metal. It DOES NOT contain the two videos from the greatest hits album (And Love Said No, Solitary Man), but they sucked anyway. Also contain's Bam Margera's, ''making of's,'' for Buried Alive By Love, and The Sacrament.

Videos:
Wicked Game
When Love And Death Embrace
Join Me (Ice Version)
Right Here In My Arms
Poison Girl
Gone With The Sin
Pretending
In Joy And Sorrow
Heartache Every Moment
Close To The Flame
Buried Alive By Love
The Sacrament
The Funeral Of Hearts

4.0 out of 5 stars The songs help for the lacking quality of this DVD..., March 26, 2005
This review is from: HIM - Video Collection:1997-2003 (DVD)
Being a H.I.M. fan, I wanted to own everything of their's that I could. Since I began listening to H.I.M., I've managed to purchase all four of their albums (Greatest Love Songs No. 666 is still on its way). When I found that Amazon had a H.I.M. DVD available for download, I knew I had to buy it. Then I read the other reviews from those who have seen the DVD. Many of them complained of the quality but I figured, maybe it's just them... If it's a H.I.M. DVD, it will be great. I was sadly mistaken.

The DVD itself (as the title says) is a video collection spanning over six years. The DVD contains twelve videos to popular H.I.M. songs. Two of the songs do not feature their actual music videos, they are mere pieces of live footage pieced together.

The quality of the videos is almost sickening considering this product is a DVD. Many of us would expect a video and audio track that is clean of hissing, crackling, and is at least in vivid color and two-channel stereo. The video for all of the videos is worse than the videos that I downloaded from other H.I.M. fans. The audio, just as many others have said, is featured entirely in left-channel mono. THERE IS NO STEREO ON THIS DVD. It's sad really...

The songs that are featured on the DVD all many of the popular tracks from H.I.M.'s other albums. The songs themselves make-up for the lacking quality of the DVD itself. It's nice to have video that goes along with such great songs.

Overall, if you're a H.I.M. fan, I'd recommend buying this DVD simply because it's so cheap. For under $10 you can't go too wrong. Despite the quality of this DVD being garbage, I am still happy that I now own this treasure.

5.0 out of 5 stars oh my god i love this dvd, December 26, 2004
This review is from: HIM - Video Collection:1997-2003 (DVD)
been waiting for this for a very long time. HIM to release something for us fans to stare without blinking at our screens in our own home. showing all there videos from the moment the band have existed. the old ones right to the new ones. what i love about the package is that its rare to see the videos on ur local scuzz ior kerrang. so this dvd means u can just rewidn back to the old time and follow the path of where they are. even tho its only a video collection. you can see where him have come from in the early ages. the musics just amazing. the most beautiful songs in the world. any and every him fan should own THIS DVD. if you havent heard of much him then this dvd would also be a good introduction. but no him fan should be without there him video collection dvd.

5.0 out of 5 stars Very Good, December 7, 2004
This review is from: HIM - Video Collection:1997-2003 (DVD)
Just to let people know, the DVD that has been said to have bad quality really does not. This dvd (an official release) has good sound quality. The aforementioned dvd was probably the one with Ville Valo on the front. This one is not an official release, and therefore should not be compared with this one.

The Making Of features are entertaining and funny.

The videos are awesome, and not something that can be missed if you are any kind of HIM fan.

This review is from: HIM - Video Collection:1997-2003 (DVD)
i, myself, am ecstatically happy i bought this DVD, i didn't buy it from Amazon though, i went to a store and saw it on the shelve and screamed my head off and bought it. so this means it doesn't have the so-called "bad" sound quality. the HIM dvd is a great one and ALL HIM fans should have it. the interrogation is great, the fourth wall is great and all of the music video's are great. i'll tell you first i watch the video's then i watch the fourth wall and if i make it that far, i'll end up watching the video's again and the fourth wall and after the interrogation footage... its that good! i've had it for a month and probably watched it 50 times, its soo addicting. so go buy it, Bam and Ville are mad hilarious together and friends who aren't HIM fans that you watch it with, will turn into avid fans, just as you should be. go buy the dvd, its well worth it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Well worth the measely ten dollars..., September 8, 2005
This review is from: HIM - Video Collection:1997-2003 (DVD)
When i first ordered this dvd, they put me on hold, and i thought, oh, okay, it won't be that long...anyway 4 months later i finnally got it. Im glad i waited. This is an excellent dvd. It has more music videos on it than most other bands will release on a single dvd (more and better content than the Cradle of Filth *a band totally unrelated to HIM* dvds) and the "making of" sections are hilarious. Now, don't get me wrong, I think Bam is an idiot, but for some reason he's just really funny here, i wouldnt watch him anywhere else though (viva la bam- what garbage!) Anyway, buy it!

5.0 out of 5 stars Best Damn HIM Product!!!, December 29, 2004
By
This review is from: HIM - Video Collection:1997-2003 (DVD)
This DVD rocks! There are all of his music "wideos" in this DVD and the making of Buried Alive By Love and The Sacrement with Bam Margera. Those two put together makes you want to bust at the seams with laughter. There is nothing better than seeing Bam get on someones case and get pissed off. There is also an interview section with Bloodhound Gangs Jimmy Pop, Ville Valo, and Bam Margera. This is an absolute for anyone into HIM or interested in a really kick ass music DVD!
