I purchased this card to replace my 4870, 1gb, 256-bit radeon. The 4870 has held up very well for its age, but with newer games that have DX11 (BF3), it was falling behind.

I decided to go with this one over the more well known brands (Asus, XFX, etc) because of the quieter fan and the cooler temps. I was somewhat skeptical, but the card is definitely quieter than my old 4870 and it seems to run much cooler as well. I don't have specific temperature readings, but the fact that the gpu cooler fan stays at the same speed 95% of the time leads me to believe that it's not in need of more cooling. As a side note, my case has a combination of 6-7 intake/exhaust fans so the airflow is relatively efficient.

The only game I really play is Battlefield 3 and on maxed settings on High (with AA), I get between 50-60 fps. I was between 20-30 with my 4870 (combination of low/medium settings) so this is a huge improvement. I haven't really ventured into the "Ultra" quality, but I'm not all that concerned with that.

If you're looking for a mid-range card for a reasonable price, this is the card for you. I was trying to decide between the 7770 and this 6870, but all the benchmarks I saw had the 6870 crushing the 7770.

I hope this review helps someone make the right decision.

Good heatsink/fan. Temps around 36c idle and up to 57c playing Battlefield 3 on High/Max Settings 1440x900 monitor. High quality card, definitely better than most of the other brands. Very good pricing for this card too.

I have this card paired with a FX6100(3.8ghz oc) and 8gb of DDR3(@1600mhz), and I can run all my games at max! The Witcher 2, Max Payne 3, Saints Row the Third, Dirt 3, and Metro2033 are running maxed out, without any issues. I am only gaming at 1080p resolution though. If your gaming at 1080p, and you want the best bang for your buck? Grab this card.

Received this video card this morning. Install was a breeze. Just followed the instructions and there was nothing to it. I have but two words to describe this card.."Freakin Awesome". My previous card was good, this one blows it away. You will not be disappointed with it.

Performance is so much better than expected.
Paired with a AMD FX 6100 OC'd at 4.0Ghz on stock cooler, and this baby OC'd a little bit, I run BF3 on Ultra in 1080p (no joke).
However I have heard mixed and almost random performance reviews of this GPU, doing good for some, and okay for the rest.
It is EXTREMELY QUIET though, even when running very demanding games.
It also stays extremely cool.
However, it can't do everything modern and/or demanding like a new 7000 or Nvidia 600, so I'm thinking that i'll get another one of these (or a 7000 series HIS IceQ X) in the future, possibly for Rome 2: Total War, just so it stays on highest settings and is still quiet.

Recommendation: Doesn't matter if it's the 6870 or not, just get a IceQ X HIS GPU, these are very cool and quiet like advertised.

System: CPU - AMD FX 6100 6 core stock 3.3ghz, OC'd to 4.0ghz on stock cooler
GPU - this card
HDD - 2x Toshiba 500GB
PS - 600W Thermaltake TR2
Case - Thermaltake Commander Epic
MB - ASUS M5A97 Evo (love the OC'ing features with TurboV, holy Jesus I love that s**t so easy to OC)
RAM - Crucial Ballistix Sport 8GB DDR3-1600 (slightly OC'd with TurvoV DIGI-RAM though)

i received the card really fast with amazon prime one day shipping.it was nicely packaged.it came with drivers CD,two 6 pin power, connectors(for a rainy day), and installation guide.installing the card was a breeze and it fit nicely in my tiny hp pavilion p7-1054 case(its tiny :)) the card performs really well in all the games ive thrown at it(bf3 1920x1080 medium preset 50-65 frames)and the card stays pretty cool about 36 Celsius at idle and 60 Celsius while gaming and i only have one stock fan on the back of my case and limited air flow(the temps are with custom fan speeds by sapphire trixx)this card is a high medium level card and is really worth ur money,it can play all modern games at decent or max settings.i would buy another one to crossfire them and i would recommend this card to anyone on a budget who wants to play modern games :) Bang for the buck! comment on this review if you have questions,or check out my youtube channel [...]

The HIS Radeon HD 6870 IceQ was a substantial performance improvement over my stock card for high resource demanding Rise of Flight. The card is large so check the measurements to make sure you have physical room on your board. The card also requires two separate power feeds, so if your power supply does not have the feeds it will not work properly. The card is well made, and has good quiet cooling fan and shrouded power cables with plenty of length to reach your peripherals. I did a lot of research on mid-range video cards and settled on this one based on reported quality, and an excellent cost/benefit point. The card was used to upgrade an existing system along with a new 600 watt power supply and Kingston RAM, as an alternative to buying a new system. Check here for video card performance comparisons: [...]
