I bought this for my aging Dell 4600, which is a 3.1 Ghz single core processor. I am running it with 3GB of ram with minimal programs on Windowx XP SP2.; so very old. I bought this to supplement my PS3 and be able to play some games that are not available for console or solely for XBox 360.

After popping this card into my AGP slot, I was able to install the latest drivers and had no problem connecting through HDMI (which is a plus for this card). This is important though. The video card requires a double slot inside your computer. One for the video card connecting the AGP and another for space for the fan. If you have little room or use all of your PCI slots, then you might have issues with this.

My only real difficulty was with the software. I downloaded 10-6_agp-hotfix_xp32_dd_ccc.exe from ATI and the drivers worked perfectly. However, by default the viewing screen is skewed by a 15% I think, and this can only be changed in Catalyst Control Center, which I could not get to load. I had downgrade to 9-9_xp32-64_ccc_lang1.exe just for the CCC to work properly. Not sure exactly why this occurred, but it caused me a headache of a few hours trying to driver clean and re-install a dozen times.

Anyway after fixing the issue, I promptly booted up Left For Dead 2, and all I can say is wow. I am able to run it at 1920x1080 with most settings at high. The rich detail looked better than my PS3 does in most games. I also tried Fallout 3 and am able to run most setting at max; had to turn down some AA and AF settings however. Regardless, it was a huge boost in visual quality than my previous X700. I plan on trying out Splinter Cell next, and will report back.

Keep in mind though, this is a a bit expensive compared to a similar PCI Express card.

I have all three cards that run the high end of this still supported and venerable AGP format (phooey to all the PCIe video card nay sayers!). They are the ATI Radeon variety Sapphire HD3850 256 bit 512MB DDR3, the Tul Powercolor HD3850 256 bit 512 MB DDR3, and now the HIS HD4670 126 bit 1GB DDR3. All of these cards are in identical ancient but still fast running Dell Inspirons Model 4600s. These old computers are running the fastest socket 478s out there (3.4Ghz EE) maxed out with 4GB of PC3200 ram running WinXP Pro SP3. They are all in the same room on the same network made specifically for weekend gaming get-togethers. The Sapphire is the only card I found to install easily with the latest drivers on the ATI/AMD website (why this card got a 4/5 instead of 5/5; AMD acquired ATI btw). I tried to install using ATI's latest drivers as of this writing, but was not able to do so. In all fairness, using the included driver CD that comes with the card had it installed without a hitch. The same goes for the PowerColor variety not being able to install the latest ATI/AMD drivers; therefore, needing its own native driver CD for effortless installation. Sapphire seems to have their compatibility issues all worked out being able to use the latest ATI/AMD drivers (Catalyst 10.9 Suite as of this writing) never needing the included driver CD.

All of these cards need and are run on 500+Watt power supply to function well. HIS got it right this time with the HD4670 with no stupid PCIe double molex to single 6pin power connector. Instead, they treat us as normal human beings and put what we already have in our computers, a single garden variety Molex power connector. Thank you HIS! Less wiring, more room for air flow.

Bought this card about 2 months ago as upgrade to My Radeon 9800XT that was in my old AGP rig up in the attic. my 13 year old step son is taking a great interest in my computer business and once we stumbled upon my old gaming rig I decided to rebuild it so he can play games on. Was a little leary about this card at first with Company's like Powercolor having tons of issues with the HDMI onboard audio killing the cards performance for the last year. But once i did my research on HIS's new 4670 i was a little more confident. The card installed without a hitch and the Drivers offered on HIS site are flawless. Also nice to see that HIS's 4670 AGP unlike Powercolors and others, offers an overdrive feature in CCC. Card performs on par for what it is. and only scores a few 10's of points lower then the PCI-E variant on Benchmarks. Step son can play Crysis Warhead on max settings flawlessly( AMD Athlon 64 X2 5200+ Dual Core, 2Gb Ram, SB X-Fi Xtreme Gamer sound card). The fact the card was only [...]$ on another site it was hard to pass up. the only reason i give this card 4/5 stars is because Performance wise it still cant compete with Sapphire's Radeon HD 3850 AGP card. Was looking to get that one but its very rare and hard to find without breaking the bank ( the 3850 was offered [...]$ cheaper then i paid for the HIS 4670 3 weeks before i bought, then went out of stock perm on all the big sites)Other then that card is exactly what i expected if not a little more. undoubtedly the best AGP card money can buy right now, unless you can get your hands on a 3850 AGP.

just for future reference:

Passmark 7.0 benchmark ratings:

Sapphire HD 3850 256 bit AGP: 981
HIS Radeon HD 4670 AGP: 751
