1 HOUR of Winter bliss for age 8 and under,

We're getting more copies for the grandchildren. A winter-theme DVD with many world-favorite characters. Adventure and action galore for the little tikes.Barney's "Winter" begins the DVD with a spot that includes learning about snow and the seasons. Fun and educational. Bob the Builder gives us "Bob of the North" next. What's not to like? Big machines and hard work. Thomas the Train, the famous locomotive from somewhere in England, teaches us all to work together in the episode of "Keeping Up With James." Train engine faces offer so much expression and Thomas teaches important lessons. Fireman Sam, with the red hair and accent of Scotland (me thinks), demonstrates how dangerous it is to run off in winter without telling an adult where you will be playing. All's well that ends well, and an exciting adventure it is to boot. Gotta love the accents. Firehouse rescue action aplenty. Kipper, a dog, and his Scotty dog friend, discover fun in a fresh snowfall. It's called "Snowy Day" and the accents again make the segment as much fun as the story itself. Very dog-lover friendly. Last but far from least, Pingu in "Pinga's Balloon." Here's one that the adults will like too. Pingu creations are a hoot, and if you've not seen one before, you'll be looking for another Pingu DVD real soon after seeing this claymation penguin episode. This DVD takes you all over the world, it seems, in the "Winter Wonderland" designed especially for young children. The kids will never tire of this one, promise. There is even some good songs to learn.

Like their springtime video, this dvd has an episode from each of several popular HIT preschooler shows. As a parent, I find it helpful to have a sample episode of each show. I then have my impressions of each show along with my 4-year-old daughter's feedback in mind next time I shop for dvds. I discovered the British show "Fireman Sam" this way.
