Amazon may not be selling these anymore from the looks of it but, should they come back, I would hope that the quality would improve. My set broke after one use ... or, I should say one "foot" broke and the other is a bit wonky. The one that broke can be opened enough to at least hold the boot from shrinking but its stretching days are over. The other one can still stretch but it looks like it's likely to break like the other one soon. What's breaking is a section on the back of the "foot" on the upper side where the two sides are held in register with each other but allowed to separate slightly. The problem is that there's a fat "pin" that holds the screw, the pin goes through the sides of the foot perpendicular to the screw, but the pin is too short. Once the foot is spread, the too short pin has a tendency to break out of the holes in the foot because there's not enough wood to still hold the wood. And I do mean "break out" as the pins tend to crack the wood as they come loose.

Anyway, they have managed to stretch one pair of hiking boots so they do work. It just appears that if I have another set of boots to stretch, I'll need to buy another set of stretchers.

On only the second use the wood portion of BOTH devices have split. This has rendered them useless.
Some may say from overtorque, however to me it appears as though the wood was just way too soft.

I used it on a pair of boots that were just too tight. After 3 days I was able to get them on comfortably. I would have liked if it would stretch them length wise as well, but it doesn't.

I think the idea of the product is very smart because it fits inside of long shaft boots, I turned the metal slowly but even with care the wood cracked opened, I recommend that they use stronger type of wood.

BOUGHT A PAIR OF THESE THING & THEY BROKE RIGHT AWAY. SENT THEM BACK GOT ANOTHER PAIR SAME THING BROKE AGAIN. NEEDLESS TO SAY IT WAS A WASTE OF MONEY,& A WASTE OF MY TIME TO SEND THIS JUNK BACK. THEY ARE NOW RESIDING IN THE GARBAGE WHERE THEY BELONG. NO STARS FROM ME. " CRAP "

I know this item has gotten mixed reviews. All I can say is that it worked for me. I took 7 days to stretch my boots. I also followed someone's advise and poured a little isopropyl alcohol and water into the boots before attempting to stretch them. I think the key was to stretch them a little more each day and not try to make it happen overnight.

Made in China! One of the stretchers is missing a part. For me they are worthless-too thick and not long enough for western boots. Holes for plastic inserts need to be enlarged. Save your money and go to a boot repair shop.

buy two pairs because they are inexpensive and you'll probably break one... but if you're patient they work great. I needed a man's size 11-eee so the aluminum one sounded too small. I poured a cup of half water half alcohol into the boot then held the boot upside down a minute or so to saturate the area to be stretched. Next I put a sock over the boot stretcher, stuck it into the boot and slowly tightened it. Ever hour or so it would take another half crank. In a couple of days when the boots were dry I removed the stretchers and viola ...size 11-eee from size 11 medium. worth the price, I actually bought 4 pairs (they come in pairs)

If you need to stretch 1 pair of boots these may work, but don't expect much more. After one use the handle broke on one of them and the wood split on the other. The boots fit but I would have rater spent more money on a product that would last.

Great product, did the job, no problems.....seriously needed to loosen up a new pair of high end men's dress boots, and now they fit great!!......helps to soften the leather with a 3-to-1 water/rubbing alcohol solution as you go.....was careful to gradually increase the stretch over a few days, rather than too much tension all at once (not good for the leather or for the equipment) which may account for some of the negative reviews........Not me, couldn't be happier!
