With so many publishers out there, its hard to distinguish good from excellent. Houghton Mifflin was once again detected by me, a parent, whose been eying classroom books, and workbooks (in addition to fictions for leisure reading books). When my daughter brought home her classroom Language Arts workbook (from the same publisher) that is out of print and her teacher loves it, and lent it to kids year after year to use them. I glanced at it and loved the simple format, clear instruction organization, concise content... well, so user friendly and ease to follow instructions appropriate to the specified grade. Then, without a doubt, I searched for a quality one in math. It wasn't hard to just click to order and TRY! Loved after it arrived and paged thru the book. This workbook (and there is probably the equivalent textbook) blows away the 5th grade math textbook my daughter's school adopted - Scotts Foresman (I probably misspelled it).
