I use my heavy Hoover self-propelled vacuum once or twice a week. It does a superb job deep-cleaning and lifting the fibres of my carpets. At all other times between vacuuming I use the Hoky (what a misnomer!!!) for cleanups.

Over the years, I have tried many other types of "mini-cleaners" including several rechargeable and 120 volt. These include stick cleaners and hand-held cleaners, several with power nozzles.

Cleanup varies from poor to adequate with all of these. AND the rechargeable batteries never seem to last very long until they will not hold a decent charge - then the batteries cost as much as the whole cleaner to replace. Also 120v cleaners require a convenient outlet and their power cords to be released then rewound after use. The ones with small dirt containers need to be emptied and their small filters usually need to be brushed off and washed after each use if their (often feeble) suction is to remain effective.

The Hoky is always ready to use and does a first rate job of picking up all regular debris tracked in the house - including pet hair and fur. It works equally well on wood floors, laminate floors, ceramic tiles and carpeting - picking dirt up in one pass and requiring minimal effort to push (unless carpet pile is particularly plush). It will even clean wet floors - instead of a brush, it has a "RotorBlade" (a spindle with rubber squeegees) - which works well for small liquid spills. Emptying the 2 dirt pans is very straightforward; there are no filters to clog and the rotorblade seems to clean itself of hair and fur.

One Hoky and one heavy vacuum (per floor maybe?) is all you need to keep your floors free of dirt and debris at all times with minimal effort.

We go through about one every year and a half in our busy restaurant. It's great, picks food and debris left on the floor after customers leave. Very durable, practical and quiet.

(Review is from my wife) I have two dogs (one with short hair, one with long) and a combination of textured porcelain tile, laminate and area rugs throughout an area of about 2500 square feet. I live in the country so the dogs track in dirt, gravel, grass bits and more, plus they chew on things that leave behind debris every day.
After a lot of experimenting, for me what works best now for daily pick-ups is:
1. Sweep the laminate and tile with a Rubbermaid Reveal Mop that I leave dry and push forward like a push broom. The microfiber pad does a fine job of gathering the hairs, dirt, dust, etc. into a pile and I collect it in a dust pan. The pad gets dirty, but I brush it off into the trash, ready for next time. (For spots, I can also use this moist too, and I can wash the pads as needed).
2. Grab my Hoky PR3000 and a spray bottle of water, and working in sections, spray a light mist over the area of the rug to be swept. It turns out that by using just a little water, the Hoky picks up about 5 times what it did dry. Using it dry, it picked up debris just fine, but left a good bit of fine dog hair behind. Using a mist of water lets the hairs clump together into hairballs that the Hoky can collect, and the few that it doesn't are easily gathered up by hand. I don't always need to use water: Just when I notice the hairs aren't coming up. As other reviewers said, this model, with the rubber fins, is so much easier to clear out because it doesn't have a brush roller to get tangled up with hairs, so it works well day after day after day.

Based on the other reviews here I bought the Hoky with high hopes.
Sadly they were dashed. The Hoky does not pick up dog hair off my wood or tile floors and it doesn't take anything off pile carpet. It works OK on flat weave outdoor carpet and on the rubber flooring in our outbuilding.

I'll give it three stars because it's so much quieter and more energy efficient than a hand vac.

You just cannot beat a Hoky for fast, light clean up. I've had one in my home for 30+ yrs. and recently purchased one for our small farm mfg. business where these is a huge amount of indoor/outdoor carpet. It works very well. I'm so happy they are still be made.

Hoky makes the best quality carpet sweepers. Mine gets a lot of use in a commercial setting. After about 3 of years I usually need to buy a new brush for it (also available on Amazon), then I replace it with a whole new sweeper after 5 or 6 years. For home use it should last a long time.

This thing did very little to pick up obvious stuff (leaves and dog hair on a wood floor - carpet not much better) I
was very disappointed.

A good machine. Light to handle and efficient in operation. My wife thinks that this 'superior' model is no better than the standard model.

Check carefully on shipping costs when purchasing. Go Vacuuum charged me for shipping and I then received a threatening letter from Federal Express for failing to pay their invoice for shipping, which I had not received. FedEx charge, £15-86, was less than Go Vacuum had charged £24-52.
