This product is very simple. The only reason I am writing a review is to offer more ideas.

I have used this product to make holes in many different type of fruit and vegetables. My favorite way to use this is to make the hole then fill it with pudding or some sort of fruit/veggie dip. Best thing is once the container is empty you can just eat it.

I just received this having read the reviews and knowing that pumpkins would be difficult.
So ... I cut the stem out with a knife first and it was still difficult.
Then I thought, I could have just cut the entire thing with a knife and I don't really need the tool.
Since you are putting a tea light in there anyway, the depth, etc. doesn't need to be perfect and you can cut, try to fit your candle in, cut more if necessary, etc.
I would say unless you have $ to waste and will be using this to make apple candles every week, save your $ and use a knife.

This product was recommended to me by my sister. I hosted a Halloween dinner. It made the most beautiful candle holders. I rated it a 4 out of 5 because it did really well with the apples, but I had to recruit my husband to cut the mini pumpkins. It was not quite sharp enough to do the job of anything stronger than an apple, in my opinion. However, the apples looked great. We floated them in a tin bucket filled with water.

This apple candle carver works perfectly for tea lights. I placed three of the apple candles on a piece of 4" by 4" lumber cut into 9" lengths wrapped like a present and surrounded this with other apples and oranges and surrounded this with greenery. I received alot of complements. They looked great. I can recommend this well made and convenient tool for making unique centerpieces.

This item was bought to make centerpieces with an apple centered among fall leaves.
The apple carver works beautifully to make a perfect size hole for a tealight candle. A fun and inexpensive way to use the abundance of fall leaves and apples. These centerpieces are sure to add fun and color to your table at home or to multiple tables at a fall event.

Surprisingly heavy and very simple and easy to use. I tried it the minute I got it out of the box. Saw it being used on Cooking Channel for a tablescape and knew I had to have it. Also got one for a friend, who thought it was just great.

Bought this to decorate for our fall wedding. It did find on the apples, but broke on the second mini pumpkin I tried to do. I know this is my fault - it was just too tough. but I thought it was stronger. The little cutting blade inside is what broke. so I was still able to punch the hole in it though. so, I guess it still kinda works.

As soon as I got them, I got an apple and carved it. It's easy and the apple looked really cute when used as a candle holder. I'm sure that it'll be easy to use in other fruits too!

This little guy came through on it's promise. I received the candle carver just a couple days after purchasing. It's easy to use, sharp, very sturdy and will last forever. I used it to make 14 candles out of apples, but the possibilities are endless. Can't wait for Halloween. I'll use the candle carver to make candles out of mini pumpkins. Very happy with this great little invention.

The Candle Carver is a great tool for quickly making candle holders for use in tabletop designs and floral arrangements. Just one twist, and you can quickly make the perfect hole for tealights in apples, oranges, small pumpkins, gourds, etc. I handed the carver to my nephew last Thanksgiving, and he made beautiful arrangements out of several fruits I had on hand. Wash the Candle Carver in your dishwasher, and it's small size makes it easy to store in a readily available space. Enjoy!
