This review is from: HOLMES TWIN WINDOW FAN WITH ELECTRONIC THERMOSTAT (Electronics)
This fan is the ultimate in air control. There are many variables, since there are two powerful yet quite fans. First is the exchange mode, where one fan blows in while the other blows out, exchanging the air in a smoke filled room quickly, when placed in the top window or at the top of a doorway. There are three levels of power, low, medium and high, making the exchange versatile. You can place both fans in the "out" mode, or both on the "in" mode. The greatest part is that there are six settings. Three power levels of constant, and three levels of automatic. When in automatic mode, you decide what temperature the fans should come on at, and when the temperature in the room exceeds your setting, the fans automatically come on, cooling down the room until the temperature falls below your setting. Personally, I have placed my fan in the top of the door by the den, using a simple wood frame and a couple of screws. My wood stove is in the den, so when I use the stove for heat, the fans automatically come on at 80 degrees and move the heat throughout the rest of the house. In the spring and fall, I will move the fan to the bedroom window to control the temperature of the bedroom. It has a washable pollen filter, so my allergies won't kick up during the spring AND, its all automatic, so I don't have to remember to turn it on and off. This was well worth the money. It was shipped quickly and is well made.
