Most of the large print Bibles that I have looked at,top the font scales at 11 or 12. However, this bible is amazing. The print is probably a 16 font and very readable for even people with significant vision loss. I recommend it to anyone who enjoys the King James Version over the New International version like I do. It is a large book, a little on the heavy side, but the size of the print makes all the difference to some of us, me included.

I ordered this bible for my mother, previous "large print" bibles she had owned were not printed in type size she was able to read easily. This one is a must have for anyone with visual impairments.

The font is HUGE and wonderful for vision immpaired. Only problem - weight! This is heavy. It would be great if they could split the bible into Old and New Testament at the very least, or into 3 would be the best. Because the font size it expanded the weight enormously despite using regular thin Bible pages. This was a gift for a multiply handicapped person and it's so heavy she's thinking about tearing the Bible since we cannot find a book rebinder to split it up. That's my only concern about this item, besides that IT'S AWESOME!

I happened upon one of these American Bible Society versions of the King James today and noticed several things. The first chapter of John is missing verse one:

"In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God."

Verse two is listed as verse one. Very odd!

The preface includes the standard preamble, minus the word "Authorized".

I imagine this is a misprint, but how could this printing remain on the shelf and this error not be noticed? Could it be that most purchasers haven't read their Bibles, or horrors, don't even recognize that verse one is missing!!??

I noticed this immediately when walking by the displayed copy which was opened at the beginning page of John. The person who placed it so did not even notice the error.

This Bible is absolutely the best that I have ever owned and is the one I rely upon on a daily basis. Without the fantastic clarity that this Bible's layout provides, I never would have been able to progress as far as I have in my reading and understanding of the Scriptures.

The 18 point font as well as the layout in general is highly conducive to learning and understanding what is being read. The layout of the paragraphs corresponds to the original text, and there are no distracting columns. The spacing and large font allow one to see the text clearly and focus on it without having to strain on tiny, unreadable text crammed into as few pages as possible. This allows one to focus on one passage at a time and brings to light the very important matters written therein instead of obscuring them.

This Bible is also good in terms of resilience. I like to keep it on the sink top counter in my bathroom, and it has held up amazingly well to an occasional spill. (The font is big enough that I can read and brush my teeth at the same time.) I have also underlined and circled items in blue pen throughout, and the marks are only faintly visible on the other side of the page.

Last, but not least, I really like the KJV (King James Version) because of the precision of the language and the mnemonic value of the Old English. All the important and complex issues of life and salvation are discussed within, so there is tremendous value in having as precise language as possible given the fact that most people, myself included, don't know Hebrew and Greek. Once I got used to the Old English writing style - it took about 30 days or so - I haven't been able to go back. The beauty and distinction of the Old English helps me retain the words in memory, so that I can ponder upon what I have read throughout the day.

The print is everything I expected and the type written pages really extra large, WOW. The book has a soft cover and thin tissue pages and is really thick. I am pleasantly satisfied with my purchase. The one thing I wasn't very happy with was the packaging for shipping. The book was not sealed in a cellophane type material and they just put it into a large box with only one of those plastic air pillows so it was very loose and shifted around in the box. One corner was almost bent. It could have had more material inside the box to hold it taunt during shipping.

Love my new Bible I did have a KJV small print Bible and was very hard to read, this Bible so BIG, BIG, BIG WOW best Bible I ever had I love reading it.. I am a 57 year old paraplegic that has sight problems. I needed a bible that was printed with large enough letters to be able to see it without straining. This bible is exactly what I needed! To start with it is beautiful with a leather cover and my name is embossed on the cover in gold letters. It has a classic look that anyone would admire. When I opened it I did not believe what I was able to see. The lettering is 16pt font and very easy to read. I thought it would be big and bulky however it is not. I find it no problem to carry on my wheelchair and I can easily open it and read it from arms distance with no glasses needed. This is a wonderful way to get the word of the Lord. Thank you American Bible Society for thinking of the sight challenged, this product is truly a miracle. God Bless You.

What she said was "The print is so big, I could get up in the pulpit and preach the sermon myself!" Bless her sarcastic little heart. What she meant, I'm sure, is that the print is more than satisfactory for one who is somewhat vision-impaired, like herself. We are very pleased with this Bible.

Great type - very large, but paper too thin and you end up with alot of "bleed thru" from the other side of the page. this affects readability to some degree. Wish it was on better paper, but still a good book. (I am still looking for the perfect large print Bible)
