5.0 out of 5 stars Exciting like a thriller, a gangster's life story
For me as some one, who came to Los Angeles and has never been exposed to anything like street gangs, brutality, weapons in young peoples' hands, shootings, drug dealings, living from one day to another, not caring about the outcome of the actions, this book is one of the most exciting documents of gang banging, I've ever read. You will get an inside view first hand, and...

...PROOF READER! Seriously, this book could have been a lot better, if only they would have employed someone to proof read the book before it was released to the public. There are too many grammatical errors to mention here, but because of the poor writing it was hard to finish the book. Otherwise it wasn't a total loss. It was relatively interesting, but certianly not as...

5.0 out of 5 stars Exciting like a thriller, a gangster's life story, May 16, 2005
This review is from: HOME OF THE BODY BAGS (Paperback)
For me as some one, who came to Los Angeles and has never been exposed to anything like street gangs, brutality, weapons in young peoples' hands, shootings, drug dealings, living from one day to another, not caring about the outcome of the actions, this book is one of the most exciting documents of gang banging, I've ever read. You will get an inside view first hand, and you will get an understanding of why do they (the gang banger) do what they do.
If you feel exhausted after reading this book, then you feel the same like me. I couldn't stop reading it. Home of the Body Bags makes you speechless, thinking, and sometimes even feel powerless, angry, and aggressive. I read Monster Kody's book, which I very much liked. But this book is a continuation on levels unpublished before. Terrell C. Wright is capturing your mind and keeps it for awhile after you went with him through his life. What's left is an immense knowledge about gang bangers and their philosophie, about the California prison system and its politics; and the question is that all necessary.
Home of the Body Bags is the bomb.

4.0 out of 5 stars You'll finish this book., April 12, 2006
This review is from: HOME OF THE BODY BAGS (Paperback)
I found the book to be a very authentic journey into the daily life of a gang member. The fears, bravado, inscurities and recklessness are there for all to see. But what most impressed me was Terrell Wright's intellect, the guy is obviously very bright and his ability to paint a clear picture for the reader is superb! The book is a page turner, and Terrell's use of metaphors and descriptive prose are excellent.

I have read "Monster" and also "Make Me Want to Holler" by Nathan McCall. Home of the Body Bag ranks with all the others. The difference is, for better or worse, Terrell Wright is an unapologetic gangsta!

There are too many grammatical errors to mention here, but because of the poor writing it was hard to finish the book. Otherwise it wasn't a total loss. It was relatively interesting, but certianly not as good as "Monster," or "My Bloody Life," both of which I would place at about 4 stars. That is of course, my own personal opinion, but read it for yourself. I'm sure you'll see what I'm talking about. P E A C E

2.0 out of 5 stars Funny in unintentional ways, July 1, 2006

This review is from: HOME OF THE BODY BAGS (Paperback)
"Home of the Body Bags" contains so many typos that reading it is very, very funny in unintentional ways. These are -verbatim- quotes from the text, some of them almost make sense:

* I literally believed in the Old Italian Mafia saying: "Keep people in depth, so they owe you favors."

* The day of the hit, the module was eerie quit. Fish was the only person denied the knowledge of knowing his faith.

* I watched from a distance as the element of danger began to swerve its head.

* After a lengthily wait the Asian nurse reappeared and bee lined on me with packages of large needles, guards, sponges and an assortment of other things...

*I quickly drew the conclusion that her driving was up to part.

* I counted ten of them, thus covering all angels of attack by following the Sun Tzu strategy...

* The knife was nine inches long, and it had all the elements of danger within every inch of its shape.

* I was braising myself for the next staple...

* I launched my attack with the swiftness of a fighter jet doing Mach 6 in space.

* I slid out of bed with the intention of brushing my teeth, and just then, Sad Dog made his move placing himself on a pedestal.
