Bright Eyes - Hot Knives

Biography

Since 2006 the once revolving cast of Bright Eyes players has settled around permanent members Conor Oberst, Mike Mogis and Nathaniel Walcott, with additional musicians joining them in the studio and on tour. Fully realized and bursting with charisma, The People’s Key is an assured and accomplished album, artfully arranged and filled with the engaging and mesmeric songwriting for which Oberst is… Read more in Amazon's Bright Eyes Store

5.0 out of 5 stars Collaboration At It's Finest, January 3, 2005
This review is from: HOME: Volume 4 (Audio CD)
Do you like Bright Eyes? Do you like Spoon? Do you ever wish Britt Daniel and Connor Oberst would get together in a basement in Omaha and write and record a few songs together? Well you're in luck! The folks at PostParlo have made this possible.

Just buy it. Trust me. If you like Spoon its worth the ten dollars just for the two Britt Daniel songs even if you don't like Bright Eyes. If you like Bright Eyes its worth the ten dollars for the first track alone even if you don't like Spoon. Everyone wins here. Plus, three out of four songs are amazing. The second Bright Eyes song ("Southern State") is average. "Spent On Rainy Days" is the most rocking song Connor Oberst has ever written sans the Desaparecidos. It features Britt Daniel on backing vocals as well which is quite excellent. The whole EP has that gritty garage sound the serves it well. I'd love to see these two songwriters get together again. Why haven't you bought it yet?

5.0 out of 5 stars You Get Yours!, May 31, 2006

This review is from: HOME: Volume 4 (Audio CD)
I am not a big Bright Eyes fan...but I have to say that the two together put a fine little collection of songs. This CD is way worth the moula.

You Get Yours is easily one of my top 20 all time favorite songs for life....it's a shame more people have not heard this.

Let the Distance Bring Us Together is also a nice gem. If you are a Spoon or Bright Eyes fan....this cd is a must!

4.0 out of 5 stars Great music as expected, January 9, 2007
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: HOME: Volume 4 (Audio CD)
If just want to pick up this album without any knowledge of who Britt Daniel and Conan Oberst are you are probably making the wrong choice. I enjoy the music by both of these artists and this is an album where they come together to create some good music. It is exactly as it is without the hype and jazz.....
