I hate filing, and that's not going to change any time soon. I'd spent a couple hours developing my own filing system based suggestions in Julie Morgernstern's organizing book, but since then, my life expanded faster than my filing system could keep up. I saw this item in Michelle Singletary's column in the Washington Post, and I figured it was worth a shot. I've been using it for six months, and it's worked well for me. - I can put my hands on any piece of paper I need in under a minute. It should work well in the future also, as I can add files for my boat, RV, car, and investments when (and if!) I purchase them. For what you get, it seems expensive. But in terms of saving time (both the time to set up your own filing system and the time you would spend hunting for documents), it's well worth the price.

I'm a professional organizer and have helped many people with paper organization through the years. I've used the HomeFile system with many clients and they really like it. It's easy to use since the index, dividers and booklet give clear guidance. It's especially helpful in households where more than one person uses the system since you don't have to guess where papers are filed. When I present my clients with options on filing systems, they almost always choose HomeFile and are glad they did!

This is a great way to keep organized. The system has an index that makes it easy to find things once filed.

This is a great kit to get started on a home filing system. I did find that a few things seemed a little out of date, but other than that it had all the sections that you needed to keep great records. I love that it tells you what to keep, what not to keep, and how long to keep it. Very helpful.

I thought I had a handle on what sorts of things I needed to keep and for how long. This has a better organization system than the one I set up, is easier to understand, and takes a short amount of time to transfer and maintain. I think I'll buy it for everyone on my Christmas list.

The filing system is very helpful and I'm very happy w/ it. It takes a bit of time to set up, but it makes it a lot easier to file.

"Once you set up your kit, you just slip in new papers as they come. No more waiting until you can find the time to file".

This is not true. Although it is nice looking and includes a 48 page booklet explaining how to set up your files with quick-find index it is not what I was looking for. There were no mention in the Amazon ad about buying a hanging file/folder. I thought it was a booklet file. So that is disappointing.

I love this file system because it is soooo easy!! All the tabs are pre-prepared w/ very easy to use instructions. Very easy to personalize & adapt for individual needs. I gave a set to both my Mother And my sister because I knew their file systems ( or lack of file systems) needed a little help - as had mine!

A few little features are a bit outdated: I don't really need a file for each of my accounts because I do all my business online - I made the files anyway ... nice to have something material to look through.

A GREAT buy and at a Great Value... I highly recommend this product!

We had a "Financial Health Day" at work a couple of years ago and our resident personal finance guru gave a class on record keeping and gave these to all the participants. Prior to this class, I couldn't keep track of anything. My records were a mess, I didn't know what to save and what to throw away or how long to keep things. This organizer kit has saved me. I'm now finally in control of all that paper. I highly recommend giving this as a Christmas gift to anyone you know who is moving out for the first time, recently married, buying their first home, etc. to get them started on the right foot. I wish I would have had it years ago!

This is the second time I have purchased this system. This one is for my inlaws. I've been using the system for many years. It's a comprehensive set of file folder separators intended to be used with your own file folders that contain your documents (note -- you must purchase the file folders and hanging folders containers separately). The organizing system is extremely well thought out and the most helpful part is the "Quick Find Index" that tells you where every item can be found. This is helpful not only for the one doing the organizing, but for family members who may not know where to find a particular file. This is the best $25.00 I've ever spent on organizing products. Match this with a label maker and you'll find you aren't spending much time looking for misplaced file folders.
