Book Description

The touch of his hands and the plunge of his needle make every fantasy come true. Dr. Gavin Jenkins' miracle treatments permit his celebrated patients to get everything they desire: youth, beauty, vast wealth and the ability to satisfy every erotic appetite.

No wonder his famous patients adore him.
No wonder his name is their best-kept secret.
No wonder his influence runs from the secluded private island of a power-mad billionaire with a savage secret to the crimson-draped bedroom of a mid-eastern Prince with depraved sexual tastes; from the private dressing rooms of world-famous artists to the heights of international jet set society and to the inner sanctums of the White House itself.
No wonder Gavin Jenkins rises to the pinnacle of power and prestige.
No wonder he becomes enmeshed in a deadly web he himself created.
HOOKED takes place in the mid-20th century with America at the peak of its wealth and influence. Set in New York and Washington, a remote fishing village on the Turkish Riviera, Sweden, Vienna, Cairo and aboard Lydia, the world's most lavish yacht, HOOKED is a story of fame, greed, obsession and murder.

Editorial Reviews

Review

"Slick and sexy. All the sure elements of a big seller written by pros who know how to tell a story." --Publishers Weekly

From the Author

HOOKED is based on real-life "youth doctors" who became as rich and famous as their celebrated patients. One of the best known, Paul Niehans,  developed his "cellular therapy" in which particles of lamb embryos were injected into the patient. Dr. Niehans claimed the treatment would retard the aging process and cure almost everything from homosexuality to heart disease. Though viewed with suspicion by many doctors, Niehans counted among his grateful patients Pope Pius XII and Gloria Swanson. (This information is adapted from an article published by the Alicia Patterson Foundation.)

HOOKED and BRAINWASHED are Books #1 & #2 in the KILLER THRILLER Series and are available together in a boxed set.

This was truly one of the best books I've ever read!

I luuuvvved the international jet-setting element, and the characters were each riveting in their own unique ways.

I read this book in less than two days because I simply could not put it down!

If I could give it 10-Stars, I would! It's that good!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars A vivid fictional portrait of real people.... February 17, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
...living in the 1960's. This fun, quick, absorbing read is a fictional retelling of President Kennedy, Maria Callas and Ari Onassis. Not sure how they all connect? Well they were connected thru a doctor who specialized in a cocktail to relieve pain. The cocktail was basically methamphetamine, Benzedrine and prob. some vitamin B-12. I have personal knowledge of the doctor in question. During the early 1980's I worked on Broadway and I was an assistant to a legendary film/Broadway actor/actress. On Wed. and Sat. there were matinee performances at 2pm and evening performances again at 8pm. After the matinee, while the star was asleep in their dressing room, a mysterious person with a doctor's bag would quietly creep in, remain for five minutes and sneak back out. After this visit, the actor/actress would stay up for two days straight and be almost manic in their behavior. One stage manager said they needed to peeled off the wall after their "shots". I found out that the injections were methamphetamine and speed. So Gavin Jenkins is modeled on a real doctor who worked in a Park Avenue office. The doctor in question dispensed shots to all the Broadway hot shots-composers, song writers, directors, etc. It was thru this doctor that President Kennedy was first introduced to injections of methamphetamine and speed for his chronic back pain. I don't think I'm talking out-of-school here because it's fairly well-documented that this doctor would fly down to Washington every other week and inject the President with the drugs. (Robert Evans talks about in THE KID STAYS IN THE PICTURE.) The famous opera singer is modeled on Maria Callas who was seeing Aristotle Onassis on and off again during her adult years. The authors use these characters to spin a serious web of intrigue. The doctor in question becomes mercenary, believing his cocktail to be the cure-all of the century. Never mind it's addictive qualities or that withdrawal from it can nearly kill a person (evidenced by the opera singer's going cold turkey at one point). It's a nasty business they are involved in and business between the President and the Greek tycoon is only one of the many sub-plots at work. This a fun, absorbing, quick read.....recommended!

5.0 out of 5 stars Got me from the first page! January 8, 2012

As a RN I thought the staff conflicts in hospital scenes were right on! Dr. Gavin Jenkins' talent AND ego reminds me of doctors I've known and worked with. The plot kept me guessing until the end and the 1960's glamorous,jet-set settings is a big plus! Enjoy.

4.0 out of 5 stars Not what I expected
I was thinking of more murder, less sex. Good book don't get me wrong. Just lacking in the suspense side. A little predictable, and too much sex. Read more

4.0 out of 5 stars Hooked
The story was a good, fast read. Straight forward, with little asides to be fillers that distract from the main theme. REM
