It keeps his feet warm in cold winter ski days.

The battery life is excellent: one charge was more than enough for the entire day of skiing without turning them off (from 9 am through 4 pm).

absolutely worth the money. I have custom made insoles from Intuition (custom made at BootLab in Vail) and ski about 30 days a season. I was still getting cold toes. Typically cold toes are caused by poor circulation or having a boot that's the wrong size.

My boots are custom, and absolutely the right size, i just get cold feet. period. With this product, it's gone.

Here's the thing. If you are serious about skiing and you are paying $1K-2K for a big trip you do once or twice a season, what's it worth to you to NOT be stuck inside the lodge with the old ladies while warming up your feet? That's ultimately the question.

Be aware that these are Ni-Cad batteries, not lithium ion like most new chargers... which for all you non-engineers means... you need to charge them up for a long period of time if you haven't used them for a while. Basically put them on the charger for a few days straight before your trip, then charging overnight is fine.

I mount my batteries on the outside of the power strap on my boot so there isn't any issue with the chair banging the batteries.

charging overnight is no big deal and charges fully (assuming that you have done the multiple day charge if you haven't used the batteries in a month or so).

Watch youtube demonstrations on how to install. I also have custom insoles in my boots so I used a dremel to cut a hole to mount the heaters. make sure you get the heaters in the correct location, not to far forward, not to far back, or it's going to suck big time trying to fix it. really a dremel tool and duct tape and you're good to go.

I usually have them on level 1 setting (lowest). only a few times I had them on full blast, (when the boots were cold to begin with)

It was easy to install (just follow the instructions), minimal damage to the sole and the insert (just small incisions). The self-adhesive sole covers were a bit awkward to handle, but I managed it 
There was no need for any additional accessories to install the batteries – the clip on the battery is good enough to hold it in place by the ski-boot strap. Mine allow the back position, my wife’s – the outer side position. Both positions are convenient enough and do not cause any troubles while skiing or walking.
We covered the batteries with pants lining and the pants bottoms easily fit over them, as the batteries are slim enough.
The LEDs are bright enough to be seen through pants lining, so there is no need to pull it up to operate the controls (just have to get used to the higher – lower buttons position).
The levels 1 and 2 of heat turned out to be almost unnoticeable, so we used levels 3 and 4 (sometimes).
The warms is comfortable, but not excessive. The battery life is excellent: one charge was more than enough for the entire day of skiing without turning them off (from 9 am through 4 pm). And after that the charge was still there!
Overall the product exceeded our expectations, as we were reluctant to trust the advertisements. Gkad we tried it, it makes all the difference in quality of skiing!

I have had Hotronics for at least 15 years. My old set finally gave up. I bought a whole new set and my first day out attached the batteries to my boot strap. After 4 runs I went in and realized I had lost a battery pack. We looked and looked but could not find it. Looking for white on white makes it very difficult. So I bought a new one. I now have it connected to a strap that goes around my leg. More secure.
Pros: Helps keep toes warm
Easy to use
Charges in 4-5 hours instead of overnight
Cons: White batteries
Battery a little bigger than the old ones
If you keep it on 3 it will only hold a charge for 5-6 hours.
The system is very easy to install and use. I have a custom foot bed that I have mine attached to so I didn't use what they sent in the kit. I would advise making sure you attach the battery pack well to a strap or you may encounter my experience. I have tried the toe warmers that you stick on the bottom of your foot but they are uncomfortable and don't last very long. You can not feel the small heaters inside your boot. There is no bump to bother you.

I finally succumbed to buying these foot warmers and they worked great for one day of skiing. The plug that connects to the battery pack broke the black plastic piece off the top of the battery pack (maybe because of my gaitors?) and the copper prongs that are inside the battery pack bent while I was skiing. I tried to fix them by bending them back and putting the black plastic piece back on, which seemed to work for one more day. But the plug dislodged again and the prongs bent again. I bent them back, but then the battery pack would not warm up the boot. I could've glued the black plastic piece to the white bottom but didn't think that was a good idea for repairs down the road.
When I got home, my local ski retailer sent them back to the company & they gave me a new battery pack at no charge, which was great! Fantastic customer service!!! I still had to ski with one cold foot the rest of the week however. I give it a 3 because the other battery pack worked great and kept a charge all day. I'm hopeful both feet will be warm this year with my new battery pack.
