I'm giving this 5 stars simply because as a kitty mom, I want the best ingredients for my little stinkers. Having said that, it's hit or miss whether my kitties will eat this.

At first, one of them gobbled it up, the other wouldn't touch it. Then it got to where the first one wouldn't touch it, and the other one ate it. Now, I just alternate between this and the Wellness Core canned food; switching it up seems to keep them more interested (they are dry kibble addicts).

I only feed half a serving at breakfast; the rest I refrigerate. Like most kitties, they're not too fond of it when it comes out of the refrigerator cold, but they will eventually start picking at it once it has reached room temperature.

On a side note, one of my initial reasons for purchasing this is because my older cat has IBS and I read that grain-free was the best way to go. If he eats too many grains, he will get pukey. He has NEVER puked from H&G wet food, so even though he isn't always interested in eating it, I will continue to buy it since when he does eat it, he keeps it down.

A note on this particular seller - shipping took way longer than expected.

I alternate between Nature's Variety and Hounds & Gatos rabbit canned cat food. My cats are picky eaters, but they will eat both brands. My cat who is the kibble junkie eats only rabbit canned food. NV tends to be inconsistent in quality, and my cats won't eat it if it's too dry or looks over cooked. I like the Hounds & Gatos texture, but I've only bought one case. Made from American bunnies is a plus for me. I feed my cats canned food as free choice for two hours at least three times a day. I do waste a lot of canned food, and I am willing to do that because canned is better than dry. Amazon has the best policy for refunds when cats do not eat the food.

Like that it's 98% meat. Dislike the number of thickeners/gums. HAPPY HAPPY HAPPY they do not use carrageenan, one of the few canned high protein, grain free canned cat foods which don't use this dreadful substance. Little disappointed in the texture of this; it's some what like a heavy mousse. With a 98% meat/fish content, I was expecting something more dense, more akin to meat! I DO like that all their meats are sourced in the USA and made in the USA. (Even Nature's Variety Instinct, also carrageenan free, gets their rabbit from China :( ) Had that been different and if they used less gums, I would have given it 4 stars. A five star rating would only come about if the price went down. All in all, glad another high protein, carrageenan free, grain free product is on the market

I had high hopes for this brand of rabbit since this protein is hard to find. The Natures Variety brand causes my cat to have flaky skin but I wanted to give her variety so I ordered this. At first Emma did eat it, although not with gusto as she usually does. Then she was pausing between bites and looking around letting me know it wasn't her favorite by any means. She did that a few times and then I put the rest of the case away. I don't like to give her something that she doesn't really love so it is set aside until I decide what to do with it. Any cat food is a gamble I think and this one just doesn't make the cut for her varied menu.
