Editorial Reviews

Review

"Apart from the excellent tips given for general cleaning and decluttering your home which includes a cleaning checklist, the best part about the book is, it includes an extensive list on the uses of baking soda and vinegar for cleaning! I've read somewhere about the use of vinegar in some cleaning processes but this book provides even more ideas on how to use both vinegar and baking soda as your primary multipurpose cleaner! So if your home needs cleaning up, you'll absolutely need this book!"  Kathy Adams

"I like the idea for keeping SOS pads from rusting and some of the uses for vinegar. The idea of putting vinegar in a spray bottle so it's ready to use is a great idea and putting soda in a cheese shaker. She even gives a recipe for cleaning drains. That's great because sometimes when you have a plugged drain, you don't have any Liquid Plumber on hand." RLeighTardif

"How to Clean and Declutter Your Home Fast" is a book for people like me, who don't enjoy cleaning their house. What I like best about this book, are the tips the author gives to declutter in less time."  Sam Pinckney

"What makes this book an excellent read is the fact that it actually shows you how to deal with it with minimal effort without feeling frustrated." Kathy Adams

"Immediate effectiveness, great tips, I have tried them almost all!!!House clean and shiny, well written and said from the author."  Doika Xanthi

"There are some interesting ideas in this book, like the method for cleaning a chandelier. Very clever! I also use Sherrie Le Masurier's idea of how to clean a shower curtain. It works perfect every time." Rebecca Johnson

5.0 out of 5 stars Clean easy! March 20, 2012

Cleaning up your house actually takes a lot of effort and like the author says, only a few might enjoy it. What makes this book an excellent read is the fact that it actually shows you how to deal with it with minimal effort without feeling frustrated.

Apart from the excellent tips given for general cleaning and decluttering your home which includes a cleaning checklist, the best part about the book is, it includes an extensive list on the uses of baking soda and vinegar for cleaning! I've read somewhere about the use of vinegar in some cleaning processes but this book provides even more ideas on how to use both vinegar and baking soda as your primary multipurpose cleaner! So if your home needs cleaning up, you'll absolutely need this book!

3.0 out of 5 stars A Decent Green and Frugal Cleaning Guide August 27, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
If you have been keeping house for awhile a lot of the tips in here might not be new to you. You will read tips that has been shared in hundreds of magazine articles, blog posts, tv segments, etc. The cleaning portion focuses mostly on using vinegar and baking soda for everything and the de-cluttering tips are along the lines of don't-forget-to-utilize-vertical-space variety. Again, nothing new. The tips are pretty basic and while it is broken down by rooms it only really covers the kitchen, bathroom, and the garage. It's cleaning and decluttering 101; a good guide for beginners but doesn't even start to cover other areas of proper housekeeping.

That being said, if you're looking for a good housekeeping starter manual, and/or you're starting to get into green cleaning, this book is perfect for you! It's just bam, bam, bam, one tip after another, which makes it an easy and quick read. All the tips are easy and utilizes tools and ingredients that you probably already have in your house (with the exception of borax).

While it isn't marketed as a green or frugal living guide I really liked that most (maybe even all) of the tips use natural ingredients that are really cheap (namely, vinegar and baking soda). Some of the tips, while easy, also requires elbow grease and or a lot of time (as in overnight). So, if you're the type of person who likes to disinfect everything and wants things cleaned quickly and easily (cleaning bubbles anyone?), this book probably isn't for you.
