Full House was my first exposure to Korean Drama (kdrama), and I must say I was taken hook line and sinker. This is coming from an American male who is tired of the aggressive, in your face, almost sexually explicit American soap operas, movies and TV shows.

I haven't been so addicted to a Korean drama since "Full House". This drama was one of the most popular TV miniseries released in summer of 2004, based on a popular comic book series.

This fun-romantic miniseries shows us the difficulties that occur while living together, as well as the funny side of life. The lead actress in Full House, Song Hye-kyo, is coming off great success with her credits including "Autumn in My Heart", "Hotelier" and "All In". The lead actor, Rain is one of Korea's hottest singers.

After coming back from a trip to China that her friends paid for, Han Ji Eun (Song Hye-kyo) finds out that they did so only to sell her house while she was away. She returns and finds that the new owner of the house is none other than famous actor Lee Young Jae (Rain), whom she happened to meet on her trip. Circumstances bring Young Jae and Ji Eun into a marriage by contract, making them appear as a couple to the public. They will be married for six months while Ji Eun does all the housework.

From the onset, Full House has been praised for its fresh and saucy take on the love lives of four young people. Although not in love with each other when they marry, a love between Han Ji-eun and Lee Young-jae develops slowly over time. The feelings of love are constantly interrupted by Gang Hye-won (Han Eun-jung), Young-jae's love interest for quite some time and by Yu Min-hyeok (Kim Sung-su), a man that Han ji-eun likes.

Watch for all those hilarious and sweet moments the two have. The most romantic scene is when they ride bicycle together during their "pretending" honeymoon. You'll just find yourself wondering why they don't just get together already, since they are legally married anyway. One more thing, most of original soundtrack of the drama are nice.

5.0 out of 5 stars Hwaiting!, August 3, 2006
A Kid's Review
This review is from: FULL HOUSE KOREAN DRAMA 8 DVDs with English Subtitles (DVD)
Whether your new to Korean dramas or you are Korean, this drama was set out to capture people's hearts all around the world; something it has succeeded at.

Jeong Ji-Hoon - or Rain/Bi as he is known worldwide to fans of his music, is an amazing actor. At first thought, you wouldn't think that a singer actually does have talent to preform in a movie (or drama) and be successful at it. Well he has, and you'd better believe it. Jeong Ji-Hoon plays the character of Lee YoungJae, a rich, snobby, famous actor who has a soft spot for his only love, his childhood friend, HyoRin. He also has personal problems between him & his father. When he meets JiEun on a plane ride to China for a meeting; she sits by him and accidentally pukes all over him. Even then he doesn't how this one girl will change his life altogether.
Jeong Ji-Hoon acted amazing, and you can't help but to fall for his smile. If interested in listening to his music as well, search for "Bi" which means Rain in English. His music as well is out-of-this-world.

Song Hye Kyo - Song HyeKyo is a well known, drop dead gorgeous Korean actress. She acted her character to such extremes that you would believe it was her real personality. Her character, Han JiEun, is a girl who lost her parents and is trying to become a famous story writer. Her parents only left her a huge, and beautiful house which she loves to pieces. She's a cute and spunky girl who's always polite under any circumstance. When she is sent on an all-expense paid vacation to China, she can't believe her luck. She leaves her house in the care of her two best friends, and sets off to the board the plane. Feeling as if it was her lucky day, Lee YoungJae the famous actor sits beside her for the flight. As excited as she was, she's never been on a plane and since her nerves got the best of her ends up heaving all over Lee YoungJae.

Fate must have been playing with them because they both find themselves constantly bumping into one another, and knowing the same people. When she returns she find she has been robbed - or so she assumes. When in actuality the house has been sold by her best friends to Lee YoungJae.

One night when circumstances bring Lee YoungJae to a sticky question by HyoRin. Since the guy HyoRin loves, MinHyuk, he doesn't love HyoRin because YoungJae has feelings for her, she wanted to know the truth and confronted him with the eversofamous question: Do you love me? He thinks fast and confesses "He does love her", and grabs JiEun instead and kisses her infront of MinHyuk and HyoRin, while the media goes crazy capturing the moment, he breaks off the kiss, looks at HyoRin and says Yes, I do love JiEun.

The story line to this story is extraordinary and will constantly have you laughing or tearing up. Or maybe even yelling rude words at the screen. Whichever way you choose at the end you will all be saying "Aja Aja Hwaiting!" or sing the Three Bears song along with the infamous dance.

This cute, fun-loving, comedy drama is definately worth watching a dozen times. Everyone acts superb and it's no wonder why this is always known to be everyone's favorite.

It's great if your new to Korean dramas, along with being familiar with them.

Buy it.
Or you'll miss out on something amazingly beautiful.

A Fan,
Maira, 16, FL

5.0 out of 5 stars One of the bests in Asia!, May 6, 2006
By
oujosan "Dien" (Cavite, Philippines) - See all my reviews
This review is from: FULL HOUSE KOREAN DRAMA 8 DVDs with English Subtitles (DVD)
The first time I read about it in the internet, I was eager to watch it...and yeah, when I finally watched it, this mini series stood out, making it one of my most favorite drama and so do other Filipino people. "Full House" is the highest rating Asian drama in the Philippine TV, surpassing the once reigning, "Meteor Garden".

Han Ji-eun (Song Hye-gyo) lived in Full House her whole life. But she's soon going to lose it as her property when her highschool and long-time friends, fooled her of having a free vacation in China, leaving the house under her friends' concern.

Sure enough, these needy friends of her sold the house. Meanwhile, Ji-eun is having a hard time in China, knowing that the trip was free but the comfort of staying in a hotel and having to eat and other expenses weren't free at all.

Knowing that she would die in hunger and has no money to return to Korea, she asked help from the snobby, popular actor she sat next to in the plane, Lee Young-jae (Rain/Bi).

He lent her money but is asked to pay for it. Knowing that she wouldn't possibly see Young-jae back in Korea, she agreed. What she didn't know was, Young-jae was the one who bought Full House, the property his dad designed and passed to her.

In order to claim it back, she needed to wind up a marriage contract with Young-jae that would benefit both of them.

However, Min-hyuk (Kim Sung-soo) develops an interest in Ji-eun and the woman Young-jae loved all his life, Kang Hye-won (HAn Eun-jung), who's unknowledged of his affection, seemed to be attached to him too. Will this wedding game cause much more complications?

I am Song Hye-gyo's fan and was even more inspired by her after knowing that she was versatile---meaning she could perform a dramatic either a comedic role. After watching "Full House", I became Rain's fan as well.

Their acting are very much commendable. Seeing how comfortable they act together though it's the first time they collaborated is very amusing...and to think it's a drama-comedy!

The KBS crew built such a beautiful house. It broguht the happy atmosphere throughout the drama. Some supporting characters, Han Eun-jung and Kim Sung-soo were to praised for regading their acting. They managed to get along with the lead stars' acting and did not let themselves be shadowed under Song Hye-gyo and Rain.

All in all, this drama is for everyone.

3.0 out of 5 stars Warning: Watching this series can lead to kdrama addiction, July 11, 2008
This review is from: FULL HOUSE KOREAN DRAMA 8 DVDs with English Subtitles (DVD)
Full House was my first exposure to Korean Drama (kdrama), and I must say I was taken hook line and sinker. This is coming from an American male who is tired of the aggressive, in your face, almost sexually explicit American soap operas, movies and TV shows.

The players are beautiful and if I was younger I would have grown my hair just like Rain after seeing him. The story is your typical love triangle comedy(or should I say quadrangle), but it is done in such a way that you find yourself emotionally tied to each characters circumstance.

The first three episodes are some of the best television I have seen in my nearly 50 years on this earth. The production quality, music and emotional tension are perfect.

This series I believe is about 16 episodes, and unfortunately, it starts to sputter from repetition. The main characters are forced to break up so many times that it became hard for the director to find a new way for them to do this. In addition, by the time the series ends you would expect a grand finale twist or spectacle that would end up shocking the audience (in a good way), but instead, ends in a whimper.

A large part of the series was filmed at the "house" mentioned in the title, which from what I heard was built just for this series. I think maybe a little too much time was spent there. Its a very nice house and maybe I'm just complaining about the house when I should complain about the repetition that takes place there.

I don't want this review to sway anyone who loves a good romantic comedy against watching it. I would almost say that Full House should be required viewing for everyone who loves romantic comedies, and especially for American film makers so they can learn a few lessons.

I think this story as it is could have been told in half the time, and had that been done, we might be talking all time classic here. But I cant change whats been done and I still say this show is worth every penny you spend on it. The first few episodes are the ones I suggest you watch without interruptions or distractions. It is some very good stuff.

5.0 out of 5 stars Good Comedy Love Story, May 24, 2007

This review is from: FULL HOUSE KOREAN DRAMA 8 DVDs with English Subtitles (DVD)
Full House was actually very entertaining...and it did hold my attention even though the subtitles were on the poor side. I have read many comments about the poor quality of the subtitles on many of these $20-$25 DVD sets, and for the most part its true. If you want the good english, you have to expect to pay about $70 or more. I have about 5 K-dramas at that price and all of the subtitles are good and contributes to a better experience overall. These DVDs are cheaper in price (and cheaply made), but I think you actually get a good deal if you understand how much you could be paying. Full House is a 5 star drama and worth watching.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best of the Best!, July 11, 2006
This review is from: FULL HOUSE KOREAN DRAMA 8 DVDs with English Subtitles (DVD)
I'm hmong and I live in the US. Although I live so far from Asia, some of the asian dramas had been very popular here. I always thought all korea movies and dramas are always boring because the majority of them die in the movie. But Full House isn't what I espected. It's funny, interesting, and romantic. This is actually the first korea drama that I like so far. It was so good that I finished it in just two days and I watched it over and over. Both of the characters are attractive and such a cute couple. I think this drama is worth buying and you would not regret buying it. Here's a little summary of it.

As you already know Han Ji Eun had been tricked by her friends to go to China so they sold her little mansion. She met Min Hyuk on her trip and hilmiliated herself few times.

After she found out that she had been fooled, she asked Lee Young Jae, a famous actor that she threw up on in the airplane, for help. She made up a relationship between Min Hyuk and her so he'll help her. She was sucessful though.

After she got home, she found out that Lee Young Jae had bought her home, which is the only thing her parents left for her after their death. Ji Eun became his housemaid and they kept getting each others nerves.

Then they later made a fake marriage contract to get back at Young Jae's crush. As they live longer together their love for each other began to blossom but they refused to tell each other.

Young Jae continue to meet his crush and JiEun continue to meet Min Hyuk. And Young Jae began to show more of his jealousy, which is very silly.

5.0 out of 5 stars hooked to korean tv since full house (tere, USA), October 4, 2006
A Kid's Review
This review is from: FULL HOUSE KOREAN DRAMA 8 DVDs with English Subtitles (DVD)
I am a filipino living in the California who was completely clueless that korean wave (hallyu) is BIG in Asia. I was not really into teledramas until a friend of mine introduced me to this trend. Ever since- i'm hooked!!! I then started borrowing, swapping and now have my own collection of dvd's ( asian tv series). Full house is very entertaining and the actors are very fun to watch. Now, I have accustommed myself to watching films with subtitles. Rain who is very popular in asia is now gradually building his fan base in the international market because of this series... but you will clearly see that this young man has talent. he can actually act !!! The lead female has starred in several - like Hotellier and the supporting actor is also in The Lawyers. So if you're wondering why all the hype on korean tv?, I recommend you to watch Full House first. You will be amused...

5.0 out of 5 stars "Full House" is a Hoot, April 21, 2008
This review is from: FULL HOUSE KOREAN DRAMA 8 DVDs with English Subtitles (DVD)
I decided to watch this show after seeing Rain's fantastic performance in "I'm A Cyborg, But That's Okay," and I was not disappointed. I am not a fan of his music - I did give it a try - but he now holds a very special place in my heart for playing roles which are volatile but vulnerable, clueless but extremely lovely. He has such an open face, it's extremely easy to emphasize with him. His character's method for showing affection is primarily shouting and insulting, but he looked so sweet and confused while doing so that I challenge any heterosexual woman not to be won over and feel an unalterable urge to step into the screen and pat his head until he feels better... or do something else... wink!

Mostly, though, what I loved about this series is how FUNNY it is! There were moments when I actually laughed out loud, something I do very rarely while watching TV. The scene in which Young-Jae (that's Rain's character) tricked Ji-Eun (the female protagonist) out of her date with his rival by pretending that his grandmother was sick had me in stitches. "I must have been talking to a ghost! We should really get an exorcist! CALL ONE!"

The chemistry between the two main characters is delightful. I loved how spunky Ji-Eun is! However rude or insulting Young-Jae is, she gives it right back, up to a point... and when it becomes too much, you really feel for her pain. Korean drama actresses must go to a special school for crying touchingly!

This show is worth your time and money. What a hoot!
