***** UPDATE as of 6/26/2014 *****

Took a while to get use to this, but I am pleased with the purchase. The 13" model was a good choice, as I would have been cramped using the keyboard on a smaller model. (I'm still a guy that loves to use a tactile keyboard.) I had some minor issues with drivers here and there, but was able to fix those issues.

PLUSES:
-since it's a solid-state drive, the computer powers up quickly
-the drive was partitioned to have part of it for backup. I wiped that out to get more space until I can get some SD cards to slap inside.
-Visual Studio 2013 and SQL Server 2012 were successfully installed.
-touchscreen comes in handy from time to time
-Window 8.1 is winning me over.

MINOR MINUSES:
-no USB port on the tablet
-tablet is thick and not as light as Surface or iPad. I don't use the tablet alone that much; mainly for reading newspapers online.
-not enough USB ports. One more would have been nice; two would be perfect.
-still cannot get Dolby Digital 5.1 when routing the HDMI cable to my received and then routing the sound via optical cable. I think it'll have to be all HDMI all the way. Friggin' digital! (Bring back 1998! Long live laserdisc!)

**Original Review**

I was looking for a tablet but couldn't find one that had enough of the features I was looking for. At the same time, I realized that some 2-in-1's were not that much more than a heavy duty tablet. After perusing some based on features I wanted, I found this item. I saw a good price for a used model so I pulled the trigger.

I'm just fired it up last night and got to playing with it.

The product is much heavier than I expected. Taking the keyboard off does not really make it any lighter. I thought it was going to come with Word but it did not. It's not as easy to navigate as I hoped. I was willing to pay more to get a bigger screen but should have just gone with the smaller screen for several hundred dollars less.

This tablet/ laptop thing is horrible. I know a lot of my issues have to do with Windows 8 (which I also hate) but this thing constantly updates. If you turn it on, it updates. If you are working, it updates. You can be doing one task and then it will switch to something else and then you have to figure out how to get back to where you were. When using it as a tablet it is ok. However, the touch screen has to be constantly cleaned because it won't respond correctly with fingerprints. When the keyboard is attached (which I need to work) it is very top heavy. Don't think of letting it go because it will fall over. Even typing this now, I have to have pressure on the keyboard so it doesn't fall off my lap into the floor. So in all, I hate it. It might be good for a kid playing games but for my work, it is terrible. HP has been disappointing in the last year.

What a piece of junk, the touchscreen is not very responsive, the keyboard is so-so and the overall operation is pitiful. It's advertised with an AMD 1.4 MHz processor actually it runs at 1 Mhz. This is not fast enough for windows 8.1 with which it's offered. Mine is always hanging up on some program or another. I am a long time HP user and usually very satisfied but they missed the boat on this one. I wanted to return it but waited too long hoping for better results after restoring it twice. Another point one might look at is that on July 17th I paid $566 for this computer, now on Amazon it's $406, looks as if Amazon and HP both know they have a bomb.

So far so good. I love this 2-1.
I agree with posts that say it is heavier then most tablets, but the to me, the heaviness makes it feel more sturdy. Screen is crisp. If there is any knock it may be the sound, but nothing that a good pair of speakers won't fix.
Moved fast, easy to undock from the key board. Keyboard has the feel of a regular laptop keyboard. I might have liked to see some wireless connections between the tablet and the keyboard.
I like that the tablet is bigger then most tablets.

Highly recommend.

Works fast. Portable. Removing the screen from the keyboard works great. Color is great. Images are ver clear. Only complaint is that I'm not familiar with windows 8.

Constantly runs out of memory, just running chrome. When you kill some of the chrome tabs or all of them it does not recover the memory. Too slow, mostly because of the memory issues. My old laptop has the same amount of memory and runs windows 7 just fine. The touchpad is too sensitive, without touching it, it changes your mouse location and strange things happen. If you uninstall everything you can live without and turn off almost everything in startup and only open 2 or 3 chrome tabs, the performance is almost acceptable. Windows 8.1 does not understand that it is your computer, it thinks that it can do whatever it wants, whenever it wants it forces you to download and install updates on its schedule not yours. When will Microsoft understand that they do not own our computers. Microsoft sucks and so does apple. Also, it doesn't work well as a tablet. It is difficult to release and reattach the screen and it can only be charged when the screen is attached.
