It's a dock and it works as such. I am deducting one star due to the fact that the slider which releases the laptop is sticky and sometimes requires some finagling to get loose.

This docking has soooo many desing problems!! Its unveliebable! here the ones I just hate:
- It only allows one monitor.... DELL's can hold up to 2, so you can close your lap and work with 2 big creens....
- the way its design (to cover the back part of the laptop) will cancel the 2 USB ports that the laptop has behind! leaving only one on your right, so If you have an external drive you work with, and a usb mouse! then choose between one of them to be always connected to the laptop. this si such a problem, when say, you are at the office, and you are outside your desk, you have your mouse and external drive, then you move to your office and you want to lock into the docking to use your screen, aha! guess what!! you will have to disconnect whatever you have in your back usb ports, and reconnect it to the docking!
Terrible design from HP. HP guys should look at the DELL's and redesign from scratch.
