5.0 out of 5 stars NICE FEATURES FOR THE PRICE
This is a great overall scanner with helpful features. The first scan I did matched the original exactly (as far as I could tell). It was easy to set-up and quick to scan. I really like the transparency adapter that comes with it. If you use large format slides or negatives, this scans 5" by 5" which really comes in handy. Not to mention the bundled software,...

1.0 out of 5 stars Will not work properly with Windows 2000 Professional
Installation is not trouble free. Maybe it will work, maybe it will not. Have two computers with W2K and managed to get it going on one. While trying to find out what might have gone wrong I uninstalled the scanning software, installed it again and now I have a scanner software that will not work in either computers.

First I tried the HP's Knowledge Data Base...

4.0 out of 5 stars An Improved Scanning Experience, March 29, 2001

I recently purchased a new computer with this scanner as part of the package. I had fought with scanners before and was generally dissapointed with the results. After a couple of months with this product I have become much more comfortable with with with scanning, either graphics or documents. The support program is excellent. You are able scan directly into the appropriate program. While the negative and transparentcy takes some getting used to, it works efficently. Scans are crisp and have plenty of definition. I have worked the with the the scanner in both Photoshop 4.0 and WordPerfect 8 with excellent results. I work with documents for a living and graphics for a hobby and look forward to many hours of enjoyment with this piece of hardware.

4.0 out of 5 stars good product, easy installation but takes lots of disk space, September 10, 2001

Installation of this scanner was a breeze under Windows 98 and I was scanning stuff in no time. I use this scanner for photographs and I am satisfied with the scans I'm getting. The one big surprise was the space required for the applications that come with the scanner--- four hundred and fifteen (415) megabytes! Disks are cheap and voluminous these days so this isn't really a big deal, but it may catch some folks who are strapped for disk space by surprise. Fair warning.

5.0 out of 5 stars Very good scanner, September 17, 2001
This review is from: HP ScanJet 5370Cse Scanner (Office Product)
I bought this scanner at a wholesale club-- I've got no complaints with it. Scanner allows you to copy, fax, email and print all with a touch of a button. Plus it warms up faster than other scanners I have used and no annoying clicking noises. The resolution is nice and the scanning software is pretty straight forward. Great scanner, however an on/off switch would be nice.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great Product, Great Quality, Competitive Price., January 15, 2003

I had many many slides from years of photography to scan and so I set out to find a scanner that (at least had a built in slide adapter) would allow me to scan them fast, and in high quality.

This product has done just that.
I've read that the drivers for this product (for some operating systems) were not shipped with the product. I have Win 2000 and it was basically a plug'n'play experience. (i think that problem was basically with ME)

I've used it to scan my photos, and the quality of them far exceeds my own expectations.

I've used other scanners before and i find it just as slow, or maybe slightly faster than others. This must be a persistent problem throughout the technology of scanning, and not reflective of this product.

The only thing i will say that is bad about this is that the three buttons on the front of the device are annoying! I have "hit" them many many time by accident, hence launching the program and starting the lamp, all unnecessary. (user fault of course) But i wish the buttons were on top... (and i'm sure there is some way to disable them... or maybe i just have to move my scanner to a new place in my room!)... But honestly they should not be in that location.

Overall, great quality, awsome price and a great product. I'm specially impressed with the slide adapter.

1.0 out of 5 stars Will not work properly with Windows 2000 Professional, September 12, 2000

Installation is not trouble free. Maybe it will work, maybe it will not. Have two computers with W2K and managed to get it going on one. While trying to find out what might have gone wrong I uninstalled the scanning software, installed it again and now I have a scanner software that will not work in either computers.

First I tried the HP's Knowledge Data Base where you will find only obvious topics like: "Check that all cables are properly connected" and so on. I tried e-mail support and it takes two days to get an answer. The support personnel at customer care does not know Windows 2000, their experience is limited to Windows 98.

On other matters HP's quality is good, but scanning speed is slow compared to lower-priced Agfa, UMAX and Microtek scanners (maybe due to the scanning software). Even if you have the extra buck to buy 3rd party scanning software to control the HP ScanJet line I would not recommend it.

Very disappointing product and support for HP's reputation.

1.0 out of 5 stars HP 5370C software not compatible with windows XP, December 16, 2002

This review is from: HP ScanJet 5370Cse Scanner (Office Product)
Why didn"t HP include the necessary software to install this program ( Precisionscan Pro no. 2.52. ) or at least offer it at no cost without having to download such a very large scanning program. This isn"t very good for HP consumer relations. My next scanner will be a cannon.

1.0 out of 5 stars Window ME requires a patch from HP website, July 9, 2001
By A Customer
This review is from: HP ScanJet 5370Cse Scanner (Office Product)
Just before I began installing the driver, I read that if you are using Windows ME, you have to download a patch from HP web site.

I don't understand why HP could not have simply included this patch in the provided CD. One can argue that HP is supplying the needed technical support to provide any fix. The question is if they can print this on their instruction, they must have already known the problem(s), then why not just simply include this fix with the product?
