5.0 out of 5 stars Took some fumbling but it works great.
Set it up on my Macbook Pro with Snow Leopard. Took about 30 minutes. It works fine. Tested my Internet connection to see if it still works and it does. I had seen a report on the Web that this device interferes with your net connection. Not mine. Hope I don't have to come back to report that something is wrong.

1.0 out of 5 stars For HP470 Only!
Be warned, this wireless adapter is for the HP470 printer only. It does not say anything about compatibility on the description, the label, or even the outside of the package when you get it. You have to open it to find out and then it may be too late for you to return the item. Waste of $50 for me...

Update: I should have added that I had to reselect the wireless version in my printer setup. After making it the default printer it worked fine. The hard line version is still there, just off line.

Update2: Setup the wife's and my (Dell and Toshiba) Vista laptops today. That was easier than my Mac. We have a spread out house and you can go any where in it and print. I'm liking this a lot.

1.0 out of 5 stars Crashed my wi fi system, September 1, 2009
This review is from: HP 802.11b/g Wireless Printer Adapter (Personal Computers)
Tried to install it between my Asus 1005 HA netbook and my HP 470 portable printer. It would not work. Tried all the fixes HP had to offer, including clearing and re-installing it twice. Downloaded all the fixes and patches for it... and there are a lot! More than should be out there for such an up-to-date product. It finally crashed my netbook. Had to re-install my entire operating system to regain wi-fi operations. I decided to go with the Bluetooth option.

1.0 out of 5 stars Works briefly, then not at all., September 7, 2010

This review is from: HP 802.11b/g Wireless Printer Adapter (Personal Computers)
UPDATE: When I got the item, it was in a ziplock baggie and not the original packaging. I overlooked the idea that it may be a re-furb. I should have returned it immediately. Instead I installed it. It stopped working after a few months. Tried to contact seller (In-and-Out Computers), but they would not exchange or refund my money. They cited a warranty that is not in their seller profile or in the packaging in which it came. They also did not deny they sent me a re-furb, but still refused to accommodate me in any way. Their customer service was horrible, so avoid buying from them. Based on this, I can't fully endorse this product. However, my original review is below for reference.

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

So the bottom line is that it works as promised for the HP470. However, if you have bluetooth on your laptop, I recommend going that route instead. Installation via wifi was nearly impossible. The instructions provided (what instructions?) were terrible and unhelpful. I had to go online to HPs site and get more detailed instructions. I tried both direct wifi between PC and printer as well as wifi over router. Both are options you can choose, but neither worked.

I'm pretty tech savvy (doesn't everyone say that?), but this didn't work until I went into my router settings and changed some MAC filtering options (something I've never done before and was nervous about doing). Again, it now works great, but I think PC novices (and amateurs) need a head's up that the WiFi installation is not plug and play. Or at least requires more effort than the instruction booklet says.

Lastly, in order to initially install, you need to install HPs bloatware. Anyone with an HP printer knows what I'm talking about. I may try and uninstall the bloatware, but I'm nervous the wifi settings may not work after I spent hours setting it up.

1.0 out of 5 stars Not Impressed, February 14, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)

When I purchased this I expected it to work with my printer. There was not enough information by seller as to what printer's it was compatiable with.

I have still not received my credit from them and it has been 3 weeks.
Not impressed

Product works as described with HP portable H470 printer only. It does not work with any other printer. Easy to install. Easy to use. Will recommend to friends

Works great, but was a challenge to setup as I am using a MAC computer. HP Customer service was good to work with once I finally got a representative who was willing and able to walk me through the complicated installation. I recommended they update their installation instructions for MAC. They said they are working on it :-)

3.0 out of 5 stars Good while it lasted, May 2, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)

It was easy to install, just stick it in the USB port and go. It worked very well while it lasted. But one slight move of the printer and the adapter snapped. The inside piece broke so now it won't stay in the USB port of the printer. It needs to be a little smaller so it doesn't stick out from the printer-similar to the new USB mouse adaptors. If you buy it, be careful. If you have a house of clumsy boys...just get the wireless printer with the internal wireless signal.

Works great. I have it set up for printing from my iphone. You need a 4.0 or better iphone and the iprint app. connect to the hpsetup wifi network and its all good from there. It's great that I no longer need to tote my laptop with me.

Great item. Works as advertised. Installation/set-up went very smoothly, and it has worked flawlessly. Ideal for situation with limited desk space and portable printer - eliminating one more wire. Very satisfied with the product.
