Huge Disappointment from HP,

This review is from: HP Business Inkjet 1200DN Color Printer (Office Product)
Over the years I have been highly satisfied with every HP printer I have purchased, until purchasing the HP Business Inkjet 1200N.
I use this printer at home, where I print less than 200 pages per month. I have had the printer for about 6 months. The printer crashes on a regular basis. Every light on the console comes on during these crashes. The on/off button does not function during a crash, so the only way to reset the printer is to pull the power plug, push the plug back in, hit the on button, and print the item I want before all the console lights come on again. The troubleshooting guide does not include any useful information on what to do when all the lights come on at the same time. The printer does a great job of printing when it is working. I am very disappointed with HP as a result of my experiences with this printer model. I used to consider HP the premiere manufacturer of printers, but this model is a disaster.

I decided to upgrade from my Deskjet 990cse workhorse when I got tired of how long high quality page prints took and how expensive the ink became. I've had this printer for a few months now and really saw it's benefit while putting together a mass mailing to 300 people (some color, 2 pages, mail merge items). It has sailed through this job and seems to "sip" the ink rather than gobble it like my old one. I've done photo printing on this, too, however, it's not my Canon 9900, so they just don't compare. Got a business that prints a few hundred items a month? This is your machine.

I purchased this 1200DN Business Inkjet to replace a 10-year-old HP Business Inkjet that had exceeded its life span, plus I wanted network capability. Attaching to the network was a snap.
This unit is smaller and sleeker than my old one, and the ink cartridges and printheads are easily accessible. I have had one paper jam in the duplexer but it was very easy to clear. I am impressed with the quality of color prints but print speed is nowhere near what is advertised. I am concerned, however, with the noise this printer makes. Printers are never quiet, but it clunks and grinds like nothing I have heard before. I give it a 4-star rating because I love the print quality and ease of use but I suspect it will not last as long as its predecessor.

It might be a good printer if it worked; mine was a piece of junk.

Surprise from HP,
This review is from: HP Business Inkjet 1200DN Color Printer (Office Product)
Was attracted by speed specified by HP.
Device has not only 4 ink tank but 4 heads. A little bulky. But a big but. Real speed 3-4 excel pages per minute. HP support made nice explanation that speed specified on web site even not a result of some printing test but possible speed of mechanism. I am happy that did not buy network version of this model. In general it is nice reliable good to carry plate with sandwiches and two cups of coffee. |
