I read some negative reviews about this printer's cousin; the 9650. (The 9680 is the same printer as the 9650 but includes Postscript RIP software.) I bought it anyway because I figured the people complaining about it probably didn't understand how to set it up or how to use it. Also because I have been extremely impressed with hp printers. I own a 5550 that has given me excellent service. I have used 4 Epsons in my career including the 3000 and 1520 and they were all a finicky pain in the [...]. I'm very pleased with the 9680. The color matches the screen about as well as one can expect. I'm surprised at the speed - despite the fact that I always print in "Normal" mode. My only disappointment is that I can only print color separations from Quark but you get what you pay for and that is a software matter anyway. There have been problems printing envelopes but my 5550 takes care of that.
