I upgraded from a 2600n and 2605dn where I was getting 2090 pages/B black cartridge, and 2490 pages per color cartridge. This is in the ballpark of what the specs say I should have gotten on the 2600 series. The specs on the 2025dn say up to 2800 pages for color and up to 3500 for black. That is SO far in excess of what I am actually getting, I wonder if they are writing about a different printer. e.g. It looks like I am getting only 1100 pages with the black cartridge on my new 2025dn.
......
Looking back at about a year and a half of my 2600n/2605dn experience.
-- I could print a black/white page for 3.5 cents. The 2025 cost is double that at 7.7 cents a page.
-- I could print a page in glorious living color for about 13.5 cents on the 2600/2605. The 2025dn costs are double that: 27 cents.
......
So beware. Until HP does some major surgery on the cartridge prices, hold on to your 2600's.

After years of messing with ink jet printers that would clog, jam and dry up every summer I eventually decided that the way forward was colour laser jet.
I have had this printer for over 2 years now, connected wirelessly to my iMac and my wife's iBook using an airport express.

We must have printed thousands and thousands of pages and this machine has never, ever jammed, it just works!
The print quality is excellent too.

Yes, the toner cartridges are more expensive but they last a long time and never dry out.

Overall, I am glad that I made the change from ink jet to laser.

Setup and software install went smoothly. Chose "minimum required software" to install only drivers, etc. Have not had much use for non-essential HP software in the past.

Two months in...works perfectly, no complaints. Very pleased with the print quality and the features. Duplex was important to me as well. High perceived value for the money spent.

No problems setting up....great print quality. I am very satisfied with this purchase. HP is offering a trade-in program on this printer for 2009 ($125 for trading in your old printer). Check out the HP site for details on the 2009 Trade-In and Save program.

The printer installed fine under Windows XP, but failed to print anything but the testpage under Vista 64 bit. Driver updates for the CP2025dn (2020 -series) did not resolve the issue. I would get the following message:

PCL XL error
Subsystem: KERNEL
Error: IllegalOperatorSequence
Operator: EndSession
Position: 14

Looking at several posts in HP's forum or (lack of) Knowledge Base did not produce anything useful. HP seemed to ignore the issue and many posts were left unanswered. One guy suggested swapping the USB cable or suggesting some "interference" - utter nonsense: it's a driver issue.

The CP2020-series USB driver does not fix it, however, the generic HP PCL6 driver (for Vista 64 bit)works fine and (so far) resolves the issue.
[...]

After 2 days: print speed is adequate, print quality is fine, the build quality is not as great as it used to be, but seems decent enough.

I am still waiting for my $125 rebate from HP, but it won't stop me from recommending this. Don't be scared off by the low price. Wow, the color quality of this printer is even better than the Xerox color laser 8500 it replaced. It's light and fairly compact, too. I use it lightly but for photos of artwork, and have had it for about 2 months, so I can't speak to longer term maintenance or ink pricing. But is is very very speedy and the color output beats Xerox by a mile. It makes me smile every time I print out a full page photo!

The printer repair "guru" recommended this while repairing my Xerox 8500 which suffered an early and painful death after only 2 years!! He said this model was easy to repair.

For some time I have had in my mind the perfect printer. It would be a) color laser b) networked c) do duplex d) smallish and e) be reasonably priced (got it new for $375 at a big box store sale). The technology has finally arrived with the HP CP2025. This printer is all of these. And after 2 months of ownership and about 50 pages printed (I don't print too much) I am very happy with it. The quality is great, I suspect your average use would be happy with the quality of the photos printed. The speed is surprisingly fast. I have had no problems with the drivers. It is a little noisy, it is always calibrating and cleaning. But that doesn't bother me too much.

All worked well except when I downloaded the drivers from the hp site on my PC and on my wife's PC they differ in a VERY important way. The supplied disc does not support Win 7 which needs to be downloaded from the hp site. Her PC allows for the saving of the laser cartridge while mine does not. I will be deleting my drivers and loading her's in the next couple of days as increasing cartridge life is very important. Most of my printing does not have to be of the best quality as draft mode is more than adaquate. Great product!

I love this printer. It is fast and makes great prints. The heat process in printing causes the pages to curl a little, but simply bending them backward straightens them out again.

Pro: Fast warmup, fast print (in color or black and white), high-quality prints.

Con: Large and heavy, a little bit noisier than comparable printers, and the manufacturer's replacement toner cartriges cost about $120 each (X4 colors) for 3,500 page cartridges.

I've had this printer about a year and it is still working great. Happy with this purchase.

I do have problems with generic toner though. The machine works great with HP toner, but I get powder splatter marks all over the first piece of paper out of the machine each time, when I use generic toner. Just a heads up people.
