While this product works just fine in my printer, and is marked as a retail HP product in every way, my printer does not register it as OEM in that it doesn't show how many pages it has left to print in the printing software. In fact, after installation, I got an email from HP about how to spot original HP products. That raised a red flag and I check everything on this cartridge, and as I said, it looks fine, but I would like sellers to be straight forward on the origination of the products they present.

Worked well and at a great cost. Genuine original supply. Easy to put in my CP2025DN printer and you can even ship the old one back to HP to recycle for free! It comes with a prepaid UPS label and just hand the old one boxed up to the UPS driver to take next time you receive a package. You can also drop them at a UPS store. And these sure print nice quality too!

With the cost of tonor for my color copier being so expensive, I welcome this price break. Will purchase from this company again. Rather have HP product over all other.

HP original toner cartridges contain not only toner but also the drum and corona wire (e.g., the key parts of the duplication system.) I have used laser printers that had these parts separate, and they also work fine, but the replacement process is a bit of a maintenance challenge for the non-technical. Plus, you must be aware of the way these affect the printing and know when to change them. (Of course, if the average user never uses his printer very much, this might not even come up.)

Still the genius of the HP system is that it always works, and always works well--at least many more hours and copies than historically we have ever had the right to expect from a printer. and TOTALLY in a different class than ink jet technology.

So if you want that reliability and error-free reproduction, you guarantee it by buying original HP toner cartridges from HP.

However, the technology is not rocket science. So a good refurbished cartridge can be every bit as reliable as an original, fit exactly the same, and the corona wire and drum can be replaced. However, this adds quite a bit to the cost, and they don't need to be replaced as often as the toner wears out--anywhere from 2x to 10x less frequently, probably only the people who refurbish cartridges could tell us for sure and it may depend on the smoothness of the paper you use, etc. Consequently, often a refurbished cartridge is going to have had the drum and corona wire inspected, but not replaced. In fact, if used cartridges are available enough and cheap enough they might never reuse cartridges where the drum or corona wire are damaged. Some companies might even have a lower standard than HP--imagine that! They are after all charging less.

HP Toner life and performance is super! HOWEVER, taking off one star due to reduced functionality of working with other 3rd party toner cartridges when already installed in the same printer. I believe that HP updates their drivers and their toners to defeat operability with non-OEM toner. Proving yet again that HP (and others) are less in the business of selling printers that work, but rather consumables that only work with their own products (at 3x the price of the refilled toners).

This is not news. What is news, to me at least, is that replacing an HP toner now REQUIRES replacing all non-OEM toners as a SET, too, at least according to HP Support.

As an example, in my HP CP2025dn printer's case, installing color toners with an already functioning third party Black toner causes severe vertical misalignment printouts to occur suddenly, between the black image printed and the color image, while the existing Black toner was not touched. HP's predictable response was, "We recommend you use ALL HP branded toners. Please replace all non-HP Branded toners and try again." Guess what, that cures the problem, but is $$$!

A workaround is to keep the non-OEM toners and replace them when the HP's are empty. As good and long lasting as the HP's are, I may do that to burn the old toners. I have advised the non-OEMs and they say they'll investigate. Certainly HP doesn't care.

The price was right, but now I see why - the cartridge has an expired date. Otherwise, the delivery was fine.

I got 18 months out of the other cyan one. I have a business, and most printing is shipping labels, though, so I do go through the black toner cartridges like corn through a goose, and buy them in 2-Packs.

I have never once had problems with the CP2025, and credit much of that to buying only OEM toner. Even looking way back to Inkjet days, it always seemed refills or aftermarket goods caused more trouble than the price savings were worth.

None of these companies are in the business of making printers-Considering the low costs of the printers themselves, relatively, they are in the business of inks and toners. But that's not unusual. Gilette got fat and prosperous that way. Polaroid didn't make cameras, they made film!

Just the way it is, but I am getting fast, beautiful printing here, reliably, and that's the part that matters.
This printer is the LAN shared printer, too, so it works for a living.
