Cheap HP printers Hidden TONER costs Revealed,
By
This review is from: HP CM1015 Color Laserjet All in One Printer (Office Product)
Beware of HP CHEAP LASER PRINTERS. Specifically the CM1015 and 1017. HP laser printers are expiring the toner cartridges regardless of the actual toner used. I printed 8000 pages of pure Black and White with all color turned off in the driver. I had to replace $240 in color toner cartridges to use the printer even thought we printed NO color. Went to Cartridge world to have them opened, and sure enough they were completely full. If I would have know this, no way would I have purchased a CHEAP HP laser printer. I smell a class action in the making.

Staples - 110% guarantee discount,
This review is from: HP CM1015 Color Laserjet All in One Printer (Office Product)
I bought this printer from Staples. Staples matches any competitor, and discounts 10% on top of the competitors price. In this case, OfficeMax had this printer for $300 (which is cheaper than anywhere else I've seen, online or otherwise). At Staples, this same printer was $499.99. So I showed them the OfficeMax price, and they gave me the printer for $270.
I have read some reviews of this printer saying that it isn't that fast. However, I have found it to be pretty quick. If you want to print 100's of pages at a time, or are spooling multiple jobs at a time in your office, this probably isn't the printer for you. But otherwise, it works really well. I have been using with a Linksys wireless print server, and it works great. Only downside is no scanner support over the print server....

More life from a toner cartridge.,
By Bill D. (Ohio, USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: HP CM1015 Color Laserjet All in One Printer (Office Product)
Last week, my color cartridges reached 2000 pages each and stopped printing. I was able to instruct my CM1015 MFP to continue printing in color WITHOUT replacing cartridges by selecting the following command sequence from the LCD menu:
Press the "Menu" button and then select..... System Setup Print Quality Replace Supplies Override Out The factory default is "Stop At Out", which means that when a color cartridge reaches 2000 pages or the black cartridge reaches 2500 pages, the printer will stop printing. "Override Out" means that the printer will ignore the cartridge end-of-life sensor and continue printing. This will allow you to keep printing until the toner actually runs out and the print quality begins to suffer. My only regret is that I did not find this configuration setting until after I had already replaced a not-quite-empty black cartridge.

Not too shabby at all,
This review is from: HP CM1015 Color Laserjet All in One Printer (Office Product)
I picked up this printer for only $299 at our OfficeMax store in Hagerstown, MD. That's weird, because their website shows it at $499.
Anyway, its printouts are excellent -- as expected for something from HP -- and come at a decent speed. I've got mine hooked up via a wireless print server, so I can't use the scanner for now, but the printer works great through it. Would I buy it again? For that price -- YES Do I recommend it? YES What was I looking for when I found it? the HP 2600n, which sells for $299 at Sam's Club -- so this was a great deal for me!

Almost perfect!,

So this is almost the perfect MFD. My only beef with it is no network port. And if you use a USB network enabler, you lose the scan function. Again, not a huge issue, but since there's clearly a place on the board back there for a network jack, why not include it? We certainly paid enough for this printer for it to have one!
And no, it doesn't have fax capability, but then again, faxing is SO 90's. Scanning to a PDF is legally admissible and such better quality.

broke down after 3 months of low usage,
This review is from: HP CM1015 Color Laserjet All in One Printer (Office Product)
This printer has been a great disappointment.
I used it rarely but it broke after 3 months. I get an error message "scanner error 14..." for which no information is provided online. A google search showed me that others have experienced a similar error but nobody knows how to address it. This is a very expensive printer and completely unreliable. Do yourself a favour, don't purchase this printer.

Great multifunction upgrade from inkjet,
By Tim Naff "Tim" (Huntsville, AL USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: HP CM1015 Color Laserjet All in One Printer (Office Product)
First, be sure to note that while this machine includes a scanner, it does not do fax. For me, that's okay most of the time, because I can scan stuff and e-mail it. If you need to receive faxes, of course, this is not for you. The printer also has no automatic feed for scanning or copying. It does have good tray capacity, holding a full ream.
The critical reviews that I've read say the printer is slow. This printer is different from most other options in that it prints color just as fast as black and white. Things will, of course, slow down when you print really big files, but, if you do a lot of color, you may be very pleased with the speed. I replaced an HP ink-jet all-in-one with this unit. While the CM1015 may be relatively slow for a modern laser, it absolutely blows away the inkjets in the speed department. It's way cheaper in supplies than inkjets as well. (I've tried the cheap non-OEM ink on-line, and found a lot of problems.) I also have an HP 1020, dirt cheap, compact, black and white printer. Its supplies are cheap, its quality is good and its (black and white) speed is higher than the CM1015. I use it for black and white text and reserve the CM1015 for color. If you have the space, you can add a 1020 and get the best of both worlds on speed. When I bought my printer at Office Max, I was told that it only came with cartridges that were 1/4 full. I think mine came with a set of full cartridges. The very handy readout that flips up on the top of the console tells you where you stand on remaining toner. It initially said that I was full on all cartridges, and it's now down about a third and still going strong. Some states, notably Florida, require by law that printers be sold with full cartridges. I'm in Alabama, so I may have gotten lucky. If you're going to have the printer sitting on top of a desk, the little flip-up monitor is extremely nice. A quick glance up tells me that I got my document through to the printer. The quality is good laser quality and is good enough for most of what I do. Ink jets, when used with really expensive paper, can do photo quality. This printer is not at that level. Of course, it's about 20x faster than an inkjet doing photo quality. The bottom line is that this is a wonderful printer for the price. Check the price of toner before you buy. Tim

Great printer for all our family,
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)

HP CM1015 Color Laserjet All in One Printer
Terrific printer at a more than decent price. Who would have thought a few years ago that I would be able to enjoy such high quality at this price? Most importantly, each member of our family finds it to meet their own personal needs. True, there is no sheet feeder, fax, or large scanning bed, but the footprint and weight more than compensate for the lack of these features. Before purchasing the 1015, I read the reviews and knew that I might have problems as a Mac OSX user--what's new about that--especially since I use OSX 10.5. Fortunately, the HP website has a new version of their Mac software. The new version works with all the features and does not have any Leopard problems. The CM1017 for about $100 more has even more features but not being sold by Amazon killed the deal for me. Anyway, for price, print quality, weight, ease of use, reasonable printing speed, and something for everyone in our family, it's a winner!

Nice printer,

This review is from: HP CM1015 Color Laserjet All in One Printer (Office Product)
I bought 2 of these for our school after viewing the free samples I requested from HP. They do print beautifully whether black and white or color. The scanner was not all that impressive but for ease of use it rates at the top. Scans and copies were a tad blurred. Installation was smooth and simple. The only real drawback is the huge size.
