Enough with HP products...,
By Headless (Maryland) - See all my reviews
This review is from: HP 564 Photo Ink Cartridge in Retail Packaging (CB317WN#140) (Office Product)
HP ink cartridges are notoriously overpriced. I have the photosmart plus. It's a good machine but drinks more ink than a drunken sailor drinks. The cost to keep replacing the ink makes this machine not worth it! The only way to stay out of the poor house with HP printers is to buy aftermarket ink to refill your cartridges. HP protects against this (because they dishonestly make their cartridges run down so fast) by not allowing the computer chip to be reset (can someone out there make a device to do this please). So, you can use aftermarket ink to fill your cartridge but you won't get a read-out on how much ink is left...this is really annoying.
This will likely be my last HP printer...I'm sick of paying them so much for their ink when other companies are so much cheaper and offer the same or better quality products...

Get a Lexmark, HP soaks you with the Ink,

We got an HP Photosmart Plus Printer after our Lexmark (which was 8 years old) needed to be replaced. I would have gotten another Lexmark, but the salesman talked us into an HP Printer. Big mistake. You may get a deal on the printer, and they show you how much less the ink cartridges are, BUT, you'll be replacing the cartridges ALL THE TIME! Our Lexmark's cartridges lasted us for months, the HP cartridges last maybe 2-4 weeks with the same amount of printing. Note that there are 4 cartridges to be replaced, all run out 2-4 weeks after being replaced.
Whatever you "save" by a smaller price on the cartridges, you'll more than make up for it by buying them more frequently. Also, it is obvious HP realizes that the ink cartridges are their money maker. We are CONSTANTLY BARRAGED WITH EMAILS FROM HP to buy their ink cartridges. If that's not enough, the HP program in my computer has pop-ups to tell me to buy more ink cartridges.

No issues with this ink,
This review is from: HP 564 Photo Ink Cartridge in Retail Packaging (CB317WN#140) (Office Product)
This ink is fine. I am sticking to the manufacturer's ink since I have had problems using non-proprietary ink with printers in the past. I just wish it was less expensive. I have switched my printer setting to the economy mode which helps the cartridge last longer. If I want better quality printing I switch it to a different setting and then put it back on the economy setting.

The PHOTO black ink works well in the HP printer that I have. However, they seem to run out a little sooner than I expected. Fortunately, they are fairly inexpensive to replace.

I'm not sure if this is a legit cartridge or not. When I opened the shipping box this cartridge was wrapped in some plastic without the retail casing but it still had the HP logos and markings. However, there was a label placed on the plastic insisting this was a new HP ink cartridge. Unfortunately my printer disagrees and is telling me this is not a genuine HP 564 Photo Black cartridge. Beware of shady seller!

Maybe it is just me, but I find HP's 564 ink designations to sometimes be confusing. This is the photo black, not the everyday black ink. This is the cartridge with the "bowtie" symbol rather than the "pentagon" featured by the ordinary black cartridge. The two are not at all interchangeable. Five stars if that is what you are looking for, and I did not think that the price was out of line. RJB.

Original HP ink cartridges are worth the purchase price because they work perfectly. Bought "knockoffs" and they did not perform as promised-very light and had to use bold for most documentation. These cartridges were excellent and continue to perform properly.

I like that my printer has Photo black ink. I do think it gives a better result on photos. I have an new HP Photosmart e-station printer. It prints great, but really goes through the ink. I can't be sure if it's that the cartridges are small, or if it just uses a lot of ink, but I wish these had more in them. For an additional cost you can get the "XL" cartridges that are supposed to last longer. I haven't tried them yet because of the initial cost, but will next time I buy ink, which won't be long. It may be worth the cost to not have to run out and change cartridges so often.

I did not receive the correct item I ordered and I do not want to open it bc I did not receive the "photosmart" version on the ink.

Originally purchased the photosmart printer so I could print photos in my school library. Each student that donates a "birthday book" has their picture taken and it becomes part of the library forever. We also print book plates with their names to go in the books. Sadly, the ink runs out so fast I've stopped printing photos on a regular basis (and do it somewhere else instead.) Now the printer is mainly used for the book plates and an occasional photo. So, this ink cartridge works well but it is frustrating how quickly it and the others run out.
